i know these "no start" threads come up all the time but i cant seem to find one similar enough to mine. about a month after i bought my contour it shut off while i was driving. it eventually started back up about 10 15 minutes later and ran fine for about another month then one day it wouldnt start for about an hour. then it ran fine for about 2 wks then did the same thing again. it eventually came down to it shuting off and not starting every day untill i eventually changed the spark plugs and wires. didnt help so i called ford they said it was the PCM because the overdrive light flashes before it shuts off. Replaced the PCM. Still didnt fix it so i take it to ford and tell them to just tell me everything thats wrong with it. They said the throttle cable is sticking and both oxygen sensors are bad. Got that stuff fixed and it ran good for about 2 or 3 weeks and its doing it again(shutting off while driving and not starting for awhile). This is really pissing me off. I have an amp hooked up with a 20 amp fuse. could the amp be screwing up sumthin electrical. Oh i did notice when im heavy on the gas that my battery light comes on untill i slow down. could there be a voltage drop somewhere? maybe a short in the wiring harness? im gonna check my ground wires later.

well i just got off the phone with ford and they said if the OD light flashes its a transmission issue. He said the transmission could be overheating causing the light to come on and then it shuts off the car before the overheating does any damage. could the sensor thats sending these transmission codes be bad because i would think it would do this all the time not just periodically?
Post year, engine and mileage of the car. Retrieve the car, pay the $100 diagnostic fee and make sure you find out from them what the CEL or tranny codes are. Go to Autozone or Advance, have them read the codes (free) and post the exact codes here.

there are 4 O2 sensors on the V6. however bad O2s are not going to cause a no start condition.ok well after 3 days ford says its the front oxygen sensors. they have allready replaced the back ones. how many oxygen sensors are on these cars because ford told me that theres 4 of them.
f**k them ppl at ford. i dont know whats wrong with them ppl. they were suppose to clean the IAC and they pulled on the wires to take the connecter off and pulled the d**n wires out. So what they do is act like i wont look at their work and try to tell us we can take the car back. my fiance gets half way home and theres black smoke coming out the exhaust and it shuts off again. we manage to get it home by not letting it idle but those ford f**ks are gonna be paying for this job. man i hate garages. everytime i go to one i end up getting screwed...thats why i work on my own stuff. they were also suppose to change those oxygen sensors which they did but this car is running rich so i dont know what else they screwed up.
my fiance called and complained about the horrible job they did and told management they need to fix our car for free and they agreed. i'll post what they find this time.
NICE! I had some stupid ass guy @ work the other night who works for ford ask me about my car, and he goes, "yeah, we cringe everytime one of those come in" I'm like why... there not bad cars...., then he goes... "well they are fast cars and fun to drive" well that's nice... you have fun trying to integrate your factory BOSE with your aftermarket radio in you 84 vette, after I told you to rewire the whole thing anyways and put new speakers in....
Ford dealers will not clean the IAC valve. The diagnostic procedure calls for putting in a new IAC if they determine that the IAC valve is not up to snuff. They will not clean it, charge you $75 and then hope it doesn't fail again in a few months.f**k them ppl at ford. i dont know whats wrong with them ppl. they were suppose to clean the IAC .......thats why i work on my own stuff. they were also suppose to change those oxygen sensors which they did but this car is running rich so i dont know what else they screwed up.
