currently i'm running kyle's old setup. 2" true duals. carsound high flow cats, maggy resonators, look like 15-16"s long. and supertrapp mufflers on the end...i really don't like the raspy/blatty sound it makes. so any suggestions on mufflers..i'm all ears. would a crossover tube/H pipe help reduce the noise?

i local SVT owner had a x-pipe and magnaflow resonators and magnaflow mufflers( one piece with teh tips),
i think it sounded amazing.

tryout the Flowtech warlocks! my buddy has them on his stang and they sound similar to flowmaster super 40s not as loud as the original 40 series but great tone the best part is you pull out the cork and they are like striaght pipes for when you feeling some the need for more noise, just a suggestions, i say be original and do something like that.

The 15 inch resonators arn't doing much of anything at all.

You have to go with a magnaflow mesh with fibers inside the mufflers as resonators in a tru-dual exhaust to quiet it down.

Trapps who had tru-duals recomended that to me. Which he says made his sytem quiet. So i have edelbrock 5503mufflers as my resonators.

Borla is the best way to go, but i got my edelbrocks on that clearance sale for 70 dollars for both:cool:

I'm building my system. I'm buying things one step at a time.

So far i have.
stainless pipes
10k miles rear svt mufflers
flex pipes.
resonators

all i need is high flow cats, and me welding everything together to finish it off.

Take off those 15 inch resonators and replace them with magnaflow screened fiber muffler.

ALSO INSTALL an H-Pipe or X-Pipe!!

Yeah pauls old car. Which you know i helped him on.

Also jeff getlucky151 tru-dual system.

I've just been spending my money else where the last few years. But i'm getting mine put together.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i was also thinking the maggy's might be too short. harry, you have a link on those resonators your using? so a H pipe should be a def'n? k

Yes a h-pipe or x-pipe is recommended. Stazi recommended that i install one, When i spoke to him about tru-duals.Demonsvt also installed an H-pipe when he had tru-duals.
It def helps with the pulses through the exhaust which allows better release of gases. Also it changes exhaust tone and notes when driving:cool:

Um let me look around online. If i can't find any, I'll snap some pics of the boxes they came in. How do you like it on your car? Power gains etc.

I liked Paul's old x-pipe style. then Jeff did an h-pipe. Because they were separate cars it felt like the x-pipe sounded better to me:shrug: Also installing any cross pipe, make sure to place it where our y-pipe met the cat pipe. Its important to keep the cross point where the stock location was for tuning reasons.

thanks alot!! i was just going to ask about the location..i think h pipe will be easiet. as i'm running cats. so maybe a H pipe right before the cats will help. i havent had it on the road, just tooling around my property. i imagine the gains are there,as i had the stock y pipe w/headers chocking me off some. my only thought is any gains had will be negated by the fact that this setup is so damn heavy:shrug: i'm going to tool around w/the numbers of disc's again and i'll hold off replacing the trapps at the moment. perhaps repacking them and the h pipe will tone it down just enough to remove the blatty sound

Place in a h-pipe but it won't take away rasp, sorry if i confused you if you thought that. The rasp is due to no baffels in the system. Because baffels are so restrictive people tend to opt for a free flowing exhaust and live with the rasp.

See i'm picky as hell with my exhaust. I have done 4 different exhaust styles.
that being said i know what i need to make my tru duals flow just right and make good power.

High flow cats and good resonators and the rasp will be gone. Then pick the exhaust tone with a rear set of mufflers and your set.

yeah,i have the highflow cats, and quality resonators..i just think they are too short. well changing the number of discs today i came up w/a exhaust note i can live with. i'm still not a fan of the leaking air sound at idle, but it sounds better. not so raspy as just loud. i think i'll try removing one more disc and see how that goes. worst case scenario i'll just bump up the length of the resonators.

Maybe run some resonators in front of the 2 that are on that setup now...

Maybe just running 2 shorter glasspacks in front of the resonators might help. They still flow fairly well and inline should deepen up the tone a bit.

Maybe you need to sell the supertrapps to your buddy with the SHO and get some magnaflow's....

The 5503's solved 100% of rasp issues when I had that configuration. Later I changed to a dual in / dual out Magnaflow. That was the last iteration I did to the car. I think the car is on it's 3rd owner since I sold it to Mikey. Perhaps one of them has video for you...
