sealant behind slave cylinder

What's going to keep the trans fluid from leaking into the bell housing? Hope you are very lucky. If anything RTV should be used. Have to have something there.

Luck has nothing to do with it. The slave has a built in rubber seal that does the sealing. My factory service manual makes no mention of any sealer required.

Factory service manual does not mention anything about it, but I seem to remember a factory trans having some sealant behind it.

Also you only want to use anaerobic gasket maker on it. You'll :censored::censored::censored::censored: yourself if you use RTV.

News to me. I've only installed 5-6 of them. If you put in a non Ford TOB and it had an O ring on it then you're going to be in trouble. That should never be on an MTX-75 TOB and put in the trash before assembly. Only pic of I have. Don't have one showing the metal back w/o any sealing.

56. Install a new O-ring to the input shaft guide sleeve. Install guide shield to the clutch housing. Tighten three retaining screws to 9 N-m (79 lb-in).

57. Install clutch slave cylinder to the clutch housing by sliding it down over the input shaft. Install the hydraulic pressure line and bleeder pipe. Tighten clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts to 10 N-m (88 lb-in). Tighten hydraulic pressure line and bleeder pipe fittings to 14 N-m (124 lb-in).

doesnt say a damn thing about needing any sealant.

If the o ring is on the TOB can get cocked. I guess I never read the manual. When you order a new TOB from Ford it does not have on o ring on it so figure that out.

From Terry...

The old design had an O ring, that was dumped OK. The oil seal in the TOB seals the shaft against oil leaks but NOT the main body of the TOB...When O ring was deleted anerobic sealer was the spec on a TSB etc. How will the TOB prevent oil from leaking between the mount face of the TOB and the bellhousing half of the trans case without sealer?....by magic!!!..TH

the alignement tool is to keep the clutch disc centered while you are installing the pressure plate. if the splines on the trans arent matching up on with the ones on the clutch then just spin the input shaft some and try again.

heres my problem i didnt take the starter off or the passenger cv axle out so ihave to line all of that

cant i turn the flywheel instead of input shaft?
