Well I have searched for about an hour about eyelids...havent come up with a whole lot.

I know Parkedcar can do vinyl work, and I attest to his SVT build numbers...while mine have turned yellow since I bought them, they are still the coolest part of my car.

I was going to try this weekend to paint eyelids onto my car. With some careful taping and prepping I think I could paint the top and bottom lids onto it.

Any tips? Articles? Thanks!

I scoped out a few places but for them to develop these, its gonna be alot of $$ that I know CEG will not put down..I need to keep it under $150 lol

Im still looking though so dont worry..

I painted mine while I was wetsanding them to get the yellow off. Since the surface was already rough, it has held up very well.

I sprayed a 3 coats of color and clear to get enough on so light wouldnt show through. This pic is before the last coat.

One of these days I want to do a bottom eyelid also.

Anyone have pics of a bottom eyelid? Sounds sleek.

I hear parkedcar doesn't even make vinyls for T-Red. Sucks, I wish I could get some fiberglass ones because painting them on is a big commitment

Well I went ahead and painted my eyebrows on.

They didnt turn out that bad at all. The only problem I encountered was that it started to fish-eye on the pass. side headlight and thats because I didnt prep it well enough.

I let it dry and sprayed another coat to fill in the fish-eyes.

An additional thing that I did that I havent seen anyone else do is I taped off that white area on the side of each headlight and painted it black. I always thought it looked so tacky to have a white strip where the headlight was assembled on a black car.

I will post pictures tonight.

By the way, what is the advantage of clearcoating the headlights? Im gonna light sand them AGAIN with 2000 grit sand paper to get the eyelids to feather into the headlights and then nail em with clear coat.

And I was thinking of doing a lower eyelid...but I have to see photos first.

as I said before, if you do that then you will seriously hinder light output out of our already poor headlight..

The all-wise Goonz has never let me down.

I will respect his opinion. No lower eyelids or anymore modifications on my 8 year old lenses....until I get my new headlights then I am gonna @#$Fniner the crap out of them.

Is there any advantage in clearcoating your headlights though?

IMO clearcoating lasts much longer than just polishing. I have tried both. and not long after polishing, the light will start to yellow again.

Its easier too. Rather than polishing with progressively finer sandpaper. just sand the yellow off then even though the light is completely white from sanding, the clearcoat will clear everything up by itself.

Before clear....

doesn't look so clear after clear coating in that pic . I think you should have sanded progressively and then cleared for best results.
