i have been having problems with the svt for about a week now and im getting really sick of it, this is my DD and i dont have access to another vehicle, need to get it fixed or im am going to have to sell it...

any help will be appreciated, im hoping to get it fixed so i can get to Spring Zing!!
heres the problem...

i am having the usual hesitation that seems to plague allot of contours.
at idle car runs rough with a surging idle and stalls after a while.. any gear under acceleration the car has no power, feels like its dropping a cylinder.
sometimes the power will come back but is very intermittent
- when cruising the car feels okay
- i have noticed the exhaust smells stronger than usual ( which leads me to suspect its running rich)
- my exhaust sounds like hell at idle and pretty much all other times (popping under deceleration etc.)

here the codes i pulled
- camshaft sensor circuit malfunction
- manufacturer code for Fuel/Air metering fault
- banks 1 and 2 excessively rich
- and the catalyst efficiency low code that i have had since i bought the car

and this is what i have done so far pretty much in this order
-cleaned MAF
-cleaned IAC
-cleaned TB
-replaced EGR valve
-replaced DPFE sensor
-tested and replaced slightly out of spec camshaft sensor
-gapped, cleaned, and tested plugs
- swapped out plug wires

so far no results and it seems to be getting worse, i had read all the hesitation/ bucking threads and cant come up with anything else.
i am almost positive it has something to do with the timing on the car.. but im not sure what else to check..

any ideas?
thanks in advance !!

sorry i edited that last post about Getting a CEL for the camshaft position sensor, i was getting a code for it but i already replaced it, problem still exists.. sry for the misunderstanding

1. Camshaft sensor, did you remove it and clean the connection? Replace it?
2. This code is specific to each manufacturer. Without a code number, it's useless to us. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess a code between P1512 to P1520. (IMRC problem, explains the no power issue)
3. (Not sure)
4. Could be just a bad O2 sensor, or you may have a bad cat. If you are running rich and you continued to drive the car, you're dumping fuel into the cats and destroying them.

i will pull the specific code # for the manufacturer code as soon as i can, and i will see if the camshaft position sensor code is still there, would a bad O2 sensor cause this much problem though? as far as my cats go i have aftermarket high flow cats on the car if that makes any difference, i also have a SAFC could my SAFC be messing things up?

Fuel-to-air problem without a code guess: Upper O2 sensors. I threw a similar code and it was my upstream bank 2. Replaced it and it ran a lot better. I was running very lean. And for the camshaft sensor, I just took it out, cleaned it, and put it back in and I havent had a problem since.

P0340- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit fault.

P1151- scanner says "Manufacturer Control Fuel/Air Metering"

Sounds pretty similar to some of your problems.

Upper O2 sensor, when I went to autozone they gave me the wrong sensor twice. make sure you bring your old one because it could be from an older year. My car is a 99 and the sensor is from a 98.

i hooked my car up to a diagnostic tool and all the o2 sensors were showing their normal voltages, so from what i can tell they are functioning fine..

i'd say possibly crankshaft sensor,tps or 02 sensor...or,for :censored::censored::censored::censored:s and giggles,disconnect the apex'i:shrug:
also, they're right,if you smell gas in your exhaust, your ruining your cats.

well heres the deal now, i changed the camshaft position sensor a second time and the car is running much better, no more exhaust smell and it seems to be running pretty normal. i am getting some hesitation but not half as bad as before and its only for the first minute or so it seems to go away completely and run great once the pcm goes into closed loop. im thinking about pulling the apexi off and seeing if that cures the problem. u guys think thats a good move?
