SVT - Collision Coverage?

I called my insurance agent the other day to drop one car off the policy and add the new car. He brought up still having collision on the SVT and I said to leave it for now.

I'm just curious what others are doing or recommend when it comes to having collision coverage on an SVT? My 98 has collision right now but it's 11 years old and I'm really not sure it's worth it anymore.

My premium is fairly low for having 2 cars and being a 22 year old so it's not a huge savings, but every little helps.

I'd save $347.40 a year by dropping it.

Post pics of the new car (don't worry I've already seen 'em) and maybe I'll give you my opinion.

well my SVT and SeVT have full coverage. I dropped collision on the mystique a few years ago, didn't see the point keeping it since if I am in an acciedent its going to be totalled anyway because of the low value.

Full coverage on the Subaru, liability+comprehensive+uninsured on SVT.

I didn't see the point of putting collision on the SVT. If I get into a crash, it will either be a cheap fix or total the car. I don't depend on the car so I don't need it back on the road ASAP, and I deserve to be punished anyway if I am at fault for an accident.

Full coverage here. $350? That's the price of what, a bumper? Sure you could gamble and save a little, but you could also get :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed.

Just remember, if you're not at fault, there are a bunch of uninsured motorists in NH. ;)

Mike and I still have collision on the SVT and Cougar. I keep meaning to look into dropping our deductibles though.

That's less than $12/month. How much road time does the SVT get? If it sees a lot of use, I'd hold onto it.

Better safe than sorry.

$347.40/yr divided by 12 months on almost any standard calender = $28.95 per month. You were close though!

I don't put full coverage on mine anymore because I'll just part it out if anything happens. Most of the time they are just small little fender benders though and you can fix the car for a few hundred of the CEG classifieds! If your car is a daily driver, then maybe keep it. Otherwise, I'd dump it and same the $350/yr!

I keep full coverage on Laura, but did not have collision on my 1993 Town Car, and do not have collision or comprehensive on my 1989 Cougar XR7. I could have it, I believe, for another 110 bucks a year, so I may yet add it.

I just added the new svt to my policy but only liability as it wont be the dd at the moment. I got it added for cheap! 200yr for liability and uninsured. full coverage on it is only 600 yr.

i have full coverage on my SVT but its alot of money. but it must be my age (21). even with a very clean record. (Allstate). i have been hit by an uninsured driver and he took off in a different car back when i had my old car and my insurance payed for my damage while he went to prison for that and other charges.

I have liability only on the SE, but that's because she's pushing 13 years old. Any wreck she gets in she will be totaled on the spot. I'd say once a vehicle drops below ~$2500 in value, any wreck will total that imo.

I'd say keep the coverage Tony, if you haven't made a decision yet. Your new SVT is probably still worth it.

I don't bother anymore. I mean, sure I could pay a few bucks a month and get a few hundred (maybe) back when I get smashed by someone, but my rates will go up if I ever make a claim. So in the end I am going to pay more than what I would get out of it.
