Stupid WaterPump:mad: Anyone know why my weep hole on the waterpump keeps leaking? This is about my 3rd waterpump i've been through already within the past 6 monthz or so..and it's starting to piss me off..Anyway to fix this?

Firstly, when the first one went out, was it shattered? If so, did you PIECE TOGETHER the broken impellar to make sure you got it ALL out?

If not, back flush your system.

Secondly, have you flushed your coolant system completely of old coolant? Old coolant's acidic nature plays hell on gaskets and hoses.

And if you have a Duratec V6, and only changed the impeller, maybe the WP cone is broken (and the impeller can't be seated properly) and you need to change the entire water pump assembly.

No i didn't piece back the pieces and no i didn't do a coolant flush. How do I flush the system? So do you think it's because i didn't flush it or do you think it is the other half of the assembly?

I Did change the waterpump assembly it is the 3rd one..but i didn't change the other half dat is on the engine part

well, i'm an 18 year old student and currently not working but i am looking. so what do you think my best bet is? :S

i was just thinking. If it is the waterpump housing why would it wait this long to start leaking?it may not be seating properly yes but it would drip from the start of the new waterpump. Am i not correct? Now with that said do you think it could be because i didn't flush out the system after the first waterpump replacement?

Could be either.

If there are still pieces in the system, the pieces could be causing "havoc" (impeller fins breaking or contact with housing).

If the housing is loose, the impellar could be shaking and knocking the housing from side to side. That could also cause leaks. Leaks are not often with the V6.

Having said that, you should try using some new bolts too. They are, after all, according to Ford, torque-to-yield bolts and should only be used once. Note maybe 1 out of 30 CEGers use new bolts. And only maybe 1 out of 20 have issues with leaky WP for the Duratec V6. It usually fails rather than leak. There has been one or two other instances that I recall where the V6 WP leaked rather than broke.

The pump on my 95 leaked and wasn't broken.Leaked enough to leave a puddle of coolant on the ground.

#$@ Water Pump Leaks

I just went through this. Flush the cooling system and get new antifreeze. Old antifreeze turns acidic and eats the seals on the WP. May be worse on our cars because the engine is aluminum. I went through 4 pumps including a OEM Ford pump (both halves)before I figured this out. I hope it's the solution, for both of our sakes.

My water pump is also leaking. I installed a new one since the impeller was cracked about 14k ago. It is either the gasket or the weep hole leaking.

Good advice.

I have seen this many times on many different kinds of cars. Sometimes when the coolant is bad enough you start replacing one leaking part afer another until it sinks in that maybe there is something more basic wrong.

The original Ford green coolant should NEVER be left in the car over 3 years.
