why cant i post in classifieds

Posting in certain areas (CI for sure) will not increase your count, either.

Pretty much the minimum post limit serves 2 purposes:

•Keeps spam/scam to a minimum
•Keeps people from just using the classifieds and dipping out without contributing to the forums.

I am a new member as well and I think the 50 post count is a bit unreasonable! I don't have the time to make that many posts. It could take me months to get to that number. I stop in and read what others have posted and will comment or add to the thread if I have something to add but if not I don't. Unlike some others who have the time or need to add to a thread.

I would like to see that rule changed! Spamers are a problem but I think the administrator should allow this if on an individual basis asked by a member.

I'm not even a noob and I don't agree with the 50 post rule. They shouldn't be able to post at 0, but 50 is high. The whole no bumping rule is dumb too.

We can't bump, so what do we do, relist the same item again, wasting space with more new threads when the other one is already there? :nonono:

You just have to be creative in your bumping. Don't just post "bump." At least say something like, "This is still for sale. No takers?" or "If it doesn't sell soon it's going on ebay." That way you don't come off as a shameless whore pushing your stuff. You come off as a concerned seller pushing your stuff. :D

I agree too. 50 posts is too much. If posts in Common Interest and Pics & Vids don't count, then it might take a new person a very long time to reach 50 posts. Those are like the two most active sections of the forums. Something should be done.

Also, I don't like the post count limitations. I think all posts should count towards your post count.

Well I've seen members bump by saying stuff like that and they still get warned for it.

Yeah, bumping each day is wrong, but bumping after a month or so of not selling should be ok.

Bumping isn't allowed, and I've personally warned a couple people about it, but someone complained to Rara instead of handling it in-house, so he told us to ease up.

So now, for me at least, as long as it's not a shameless bump every day like "gee, where's the interest" or "doesn't anybody want it?" I'll allow it to go.

I don't consider price additions/changes/edits as bumps.

A bump is stupid IMO.
If someone wants a particular item, they are going to search for it, and then your thread will come up.
Everyone's view settings are different as well. It may appear to you that your thread is dead, but it may still be viewable by others.

I have always thought that 25 posts should suffice for reasons Jim B mentioned. I visit the Maxima forums occasionally for the past year but only have sixteen posts since everything on there has been said before.

I agree with the time limitation though. That one deters spammers quickly.

Personally, I don't care WHAT you have for sale. If you haven't been here long enough to EARN a little trust, then I won't be purchasing it from you regardless. Being able to post at 10, or 20 or whatever won't make you a potential buy for me.

I'd have as much luck buying something for sale in the newspaper. I don't trust that, either. Keep complaining about the rules, but the only people that will buy your stuff if you DON'T contribute to the forum, are going to be other new people who don't contribute, either. You may as well list it on your local for sale ads in your town. The rule won't change any time soon.

Can't picture yourself meeting those requirements any time soon? rethink your priorities. Choose somewhere else to sell your stuff. OR just wait.. OR get more active.

The choices are there for you. if you don't LIKE the choices, that isn't our problem.

Well said, Ray.

It is also to protect us from newbies who pretend to sell, collect our money and then run. If you have about 50 posts, then chances are you have posted enough for some CEGers to figure out who or where you are and can trace you if a deal goes sour. We have had too many incidents in the Old Forum of newbie CEGers who posted for sale items and then not heard from again after collecting money from a few CEGers (for the same item).
