Silverstar 893 Foglight bulbs

I had StreetGlow fog lights in for a short while. They matched my head lights, but went out with in the first 3 weeks of having them.

I was thinking about doing the BAT amber replacement fog light bulbs. Does anyone know how they hold up? I don't feel like wasting anymore money. (I'm a poor college student...:nonono:)

How do the BAT's compare to the Nokya's?

Some fog housings melt with the 885's. Just be aware of that.

Isn't the 885 bulb a lesser wattage bulb though. I know I looked at it. I thought I screwed up cause when I took the old bulb out it had the watts on it and it was more than the 885. I believe it was a 893 that was in there. 885 still working great. I will keep an eye out on the melting though. I really don't drive anywhere over an hour though.

IIRC , as I remember it ...
893 = 37 watts
885 = 50 watts

ya it's 50 watts for the 885, they fit stock perfectly and well ... they're brighter because they have more energy running through them.

I've used them for hours on end, in my Vue, and the mystique, running really well. Brighter is better especially in poorly lit areas that I drive through to get home.

I went to Checker and bought the Slyvania normal fog light bulbs and they perfectly match my headlights. Although, I havn't check to see what kind of bulbs are in there, probably the Slyvanias..

Does anyone know of a yellow fog light brand that I can pick up for my SVT at Pep Boys, Autozone, Oreilly's or NAPA?

I hate ordering stuff online, I really like to have it in my hand.

Thanks!

Anyone have these? What are the general opinions on them? If anyone has had these and the Nokya yellow ones and can comapre them for me that would be a joy. I would rather leave the stock fogs in and not mess with them besides bulb replacement so I dont want to go H3 with Piaa Ion bulbs or anything :shocked: like that. I am considering the Nokya because yellow is ment to be the best color in fog which we have pretty bad up here (upstate NY). Everyone I know swears by silverstar for their headlights so I am leaning towards them. They will end up around the same price for me so what do you guys think.

I spent 40 bux on silverstar bulbs and one burnt out within 3 weeks and the other one followed another 3 weeks, everyone says they probably burnt out because i touched them, i can't recall if i touched them or not, but they did look nice, a cool white, unlike the stock poopy bulbs that make the lights yellow lookin

i put the silverstars in my fogs. 3 days went by and they were out. i was pissed. 40 bucks gone. found out its because the bumper moves around a bit more than the headlamps. and mine is kind of lose. so i put just crappy ones back in and they are still going after all summer. but thats me

i was just as angered hahahaha :crazy:

I apoligize for making the statement on getting the 885 bulbs. I'm sorry. (Todras, Brapple, Csvt1214) Both of mine are melted in the center. :cry: DO NOT BUY 885 BULBS!

LOL I knew it would happen.

Just FYI, SP Motorsports sells brand new factory fogs for dirt cheap. ($24.50 each)

I may buy another set from them to replace my 00 SVT's fogs.

because I wasn't looking at 885 .... i forget now but it was some other bulb that was 27 watts

That explains it , LOL :D !

99SE - sorry to hear about your lamps - real bummer . Many others have run the 885s with no issues , myself included . My 885s are in my CSVT for around 6 years now with no problems , were in my '95 SE for a few years with no issues , and in my bro's '95 SE for years with no issues . It happens sometimes , I guess :shrug: .
I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to run them ... maybe run them at your own risk ? I'm VERY happy with mine :cool: .

Tony - thanks for the tip on new foggies :cool: .
