Any local shops that you guys know or can recommend that'll cut me a good deal? Do I have to pay in cash? :) Let me know, before I kill myself driving my bald tires. lol

good tips, ill check em out.

Well I cant get a look at the prices for sams club items because im not a member. Not sure how the Costco thing works either, do they put the tires on at the store, or give you a voucher for someone else to do it? Cant compare the X-Ice on costco either as they apparently dont have them anymore(?) ABCarr, how do you like the X-ice's? I know it would be a tad different handling on a van than a car, but just wondering if its worth it to spend the extra money. Also going to look at those blizzaks since they seem to be popular around here as well.

I've been very pleased with the X-Ice's on the GC. This is primarily my wife's vehicle, but I drive it pretty much exclusively on weekends. Ice/snow grip and braking are excellent, and there's not much of a drop-off in feel and control from the summer tires. I don't recall what we paid for them, but it was a good deal. If I get to Sam's Club in the near future, I'll check on pricing. Reminds me...I should get the X-Ice's mounted up sometime soon.

yeah its snowing pretty good over here in waterloo. How has the wear been on the x-ice? Ive been reading some more reviews and some people who have had them a a season or 2 or very disapointed with the wear. Not sure Id want to pay the premium for them to have them wear out faster than a cheaper set.

With any ice tire, chances are the "ice" compound wears off after two seasons or so because that's how they were built. What remains is an aggressive all-season tread that is adequate on ice, but still retains the properties of a winter tire.

Tire Rack actually implies that the Blizzaks wear on the same principle because they are "ice tires".

For tires, I trek out to Markham - Steelcase Tires N Mags.
