okay peeps. so i went to the local U pull lot today. i found a 01 sable.

totally stoked at this point. 1 degree weather and 30 MPH winds aside.

i needed to get a 60MM tb. the 65 doesnt allow me to have a IAC and its also a couple mill bigger than the UIM outlet.

i took my car apart to fix the vaccum leak i found. Turned out i had a broken UIM bolt and i needed half a LIM. i found that, plastic valve covers (to keep heat off my UIM and save weight) and a 60mm TB off a 99 taurus split port. so im gonna optimize the 60mm and possibly up the size of the plate and have the tb machined to hold a bigger plate.

also i got the 99 tB bracket. if you ever looked at a 99 taurus split port you would know that it has a cool little plastic cover that covers all the throttle/cruise cables and assembly. so im gonna get the rest of the cables when it warms up this weekend and do the whole conversion. I also got a new line for the PCV system, which is black and the correct size. Im gonna paint everything satin black that isnt black yet, and build a custom cover for the battery and a custom cold air box with a new KKM filter or equivalent on it.

so the engine bay will be blacked out and ill be runnin good. when i deleted the EGR the rest of the way, i figured out that the tube going into the manifold is huge and restrictive. so i cut that off flush and silver soldered the end shut so it wont leak or create any sort of turbulence. i also noticed that from teh factory, the PCV outlet was backward and it has a weird angle on it so it was making some intake blockage as well. Im so excited my car already rips and its gonna be nothin but better after all this. :)

pics will be up soon. i will have everything done except the throttle bracketry and cables by tomorrow. i still have to get the valve covers on it. the plastic valve covers use different gaskets and i havent gotten the right ones yet. i also need to grab the TB and clean that up and swap over the shafts and such from the other TB i was going to use, but wasnt right. the engine bay is going to look great once i build a battery enclosure and a cold air box with a new filter. its been between 40-60 degrees here in MN lately and its giving me the mod bug! they even swept all the streets where i live already :)

all main streets are swept in eagan. but it depends on the city i think. i live on lextington/diffley and both of those roads are swept for their whole length.

i heard that SSP streets are being worked on this week. but IGH always sucked. lol.

Don't even get me started on WSP streets. I feel like I'm going through the cones trying to avoid all the pot holes. :nonono:

Can't wait for it to be nice though. Need to make my drums black, not red :help:

Hopefully I can get enough money together for some sort of exhaust. Probably just an SVT one for cheap if I can find one.

quick update on the car. i got the valve covers installed. redid the lower intake manifold. egr deleted and all that stuff. it all looks good. i got the brackets to work with the plastic cover but i dont like how touchy the throttle is so im gonna change out the TB shaft with my SVT one which will be modded slightly. should make it smoother, we'll see. i still can't find any IAC's that don't cost too much $$$ i really need one and don't have money for a new one. i'm pretty upset about this right now. pics will be here soon as my buddy gets his new camera and i steal it for a day :O)

pull the egr hunk of junk out and put a plug in there. no air restriction whatsoever. When I built Jons engine (98contoursvt) he broke the egr tube so it was unusable. we went to autozone and got an expandable rubber freeze plug and put that in there. works like a charm and also looks like it is supposed to be there.

oh and get some pics up! i want to see this beauty

i cut the tube off flush inside the manifold and put the bracket back on. i filled it with black rtv so its flush. then i got an egr block off on the outside so it looks good. i also used a small circular piece of metal and put it inside the nut on the header, so its sealed up on both ends. i took out the DPFE sensor or whatever its called. so the intake tract should be less restrictive even though i had to go back down to the 60mm TB. i half shafted the TB and trimmed it just like a optimized tb, but i didnt risk trimming down the throttle plate. i'm happy with how everything went together except my cruise control cable doesn't fit and the IAC is still not installed. i think i'm gonna see if the cruise control module off the taurus will plug in. that way i dont have to mess with the cable fitment. so far it looks stock and works good.
