SVT Gas Milage

Hey Everyone,

As some of you may know i recently purchased a 98.5 SVT

After the first couple days the check engine light came on .. but other than the light it has not had any effect (that i can tell)

I havent been able to get it checked yet but i do have a question .. that may or may not be related

I just filled up the tank for the second time with the gas light on and the car took 45 bucks worth of gas to fill it (it was 94 octane @ $1.05 per liter cdn dollars so tht would mean its a 45 liter tank you would think)

The last tank was about the same to fill but i only got 350k on that tank

Seeing that i drove the snot out of the car i gues its not that terriable .. but do you guys think that is way bad gas milage?

im going to do my best and take it wasy this week and see if it improves but if not maybe my light is realted to that some how

Any advice would help at this point .. i think i miss my probe :(
 
my check engine light was on for 4 days

a ford mechanic said it would be catalytic converter

but then the light went out after for days so
i never did anything about it,seems to run fine
gets about 375km to a tank

what do you guys get for gas milage?
 
There are literally TONS of threads on this if you search. 40 liters=10.6 gallons. 350k=210mi 210/10.6=19.8 mpg which isn't bad if it was city driving.
 
I've got as low as 21mpg on a tank usualy it's around 24, at best i've got a little over 30. My check engine light has been on since i bought my car in august. With 165,000 miles on a stock water pump I've go better things to worry about:laugh:
 
Old SVT-20-21 City, 28-41 Highway (I drove 40.6 miles on .989 gallons, I was driving 65 mph, with cruise control during the night and it was pretty cool outside)

Turbo SVT-16-17 City, 25-28 Highway
 
For the last 4 tanks i get exactly 10 gallons and get 175 to 185 miles, either all city or half and half, i dont see a difference. I was worried something was wrong but i guess this is semi-normal.
 
In my '99 SVT I always get around 300 a tank, and I think that's bad. :blackeye: In my returnless '99 I had gotten over 450 a tank on full highway trips!

I get mad at myself if I dont get 200 out of a half tank. After that the gauge starts dropping faster so I care less but my goal is always 200 at the "halfway" point.

Best I've every gotten was 34 on the highway doing 55 with a tail wind, I thought that was amazing since I have a v6. In town it's around 25 (I drive nice most of the time) and I fill up about once every two weeks or so. Also I have a 5spd so that helps.

That's what I was getting with my SVT during winter here, now that its warmed up a little bit I'm getting around 17.5-18 :cool:

If I can get anywhere around 115-120 miles to the half tank I know its going to be a good one. Right now its at 150-ish and I'm right around a 1/4 tank.

This weekend I'll really be able to tell how it does on the highway.
 
I get about 23 mpg, mix of highway driving and back country roads. My crusing speed on highway keeps rpm's about 3K, trying to keep secondaries closed. :laugh:

FWIW, I just did the UIM/LIM cleaning and picked up about 1.5 mpg.
 
Good News - 425 (kilometers not miles) on my last tank (light was on for maybe 15k)

I aimed for 250 for the first half tank .. but i was like driving on egg shells (other than that one blast :) )

Now that im on my third i think i found a happy place

i just hit 210 for the first half and have been driving spirted .. but not all the time

My guess is ill average 400 per tank as long as the summer goes (i did use A/C one day last tank)

I just love listening to this thing :)
