Is it totally possible that I have been driving with a busted IMRC since I got my car. I got it with 13,700 miles. I have an 02 cougar v6. It would make sense since I ran a 16.6 in the 1/4 mile with i/h/e. But Recently I noticed my car hesitating at 5,000+ rpms. So a friend of mine told me to try driving with it unplugged to see if it stops working. So I did that and the car felt exactly the same.... hrmm... it is f-ing possible that this explains why I lose to civics. Maybe because I never felt the IMRC kick in...it never worked...wtf..lol:shrug: I have a spare IMRC im going to hook up in a few days and if that doesn't work I will be needing one. wink wink. Btw I recently swapped to an SVT motor and it still feels fast as hell. I can only imagine with a properly working IMRC...lol

so u have an svt motor now? then the first part of ur post is history? and yes, with a functional imrc, it'll be faster. except it kicks in way before 5k rpm tho... almost 4k i believe. at 5k, u should be getting ready to shift.

So you had a non svt motor then swapped to an svt motor and the imrc still wasnt working? Im confused.

Civic racing = :nonono:

edit- I didn't know my IMRC wasn't working until yesterday and I used the IMRC from the non svt motor.

If your IMRC isnt opening the car wont pull smoothly through the power band, when my IMRC failed the car would have a very noticeable hesitation above 5K, and obviously no extra power above 3200 at WOT.

Also make sure that the linkage between the front and rear bank secondaries is still hooked up, its pretty common for the plastic clip that holds the linkage in place to fall apart and only have half of your secondary ports open up.

it's still hooked up i took everything apart last night to check. It kinda seems like it's working but feels the same when I unplug it. Anyone in the jersey area available to show me .. I'm about a week away from receiving my other one from back home.

pop your hood and rev the motor up at the throttle body above 4000 rpms, have a friend confirm that you are passing the 4000rpm mark, you will see the secondary ports open under the throttle body, if they dont then your IMRC is disconnected or not functioning properly, if they do then everything is working fine. However, generally a non functioning IMRC box will throw a CEL code.

yeah at about 4200 they open up. I know it's functioning just not to the best of its abilities. AKA doesn't always work in third gear. So I am going to thy the "fix" and see if that helps.
