Well I finally got to it. After, maybe a year? Today it happened

Almost done cleaning, never grabed a shot when I was finished.

All back together.

And while I was there, I filed down the screws on the back.

Merry Christmas to my car!

It ran kinda rough when I started it. It stalled out when I gave it some gas. You'll see in the vid. It ran nicely after that. The pedal feel is alot smoother. As for the results, I'll go driving tomorrow. I didn't want to take the chance on a night run.

Also on plans for this week, a new waterpump tensioner for sure. And maybe the water temp sensor if the weather is nice enough and I feel like messing with the cooling system.

Looks like you were busy doing the same thing we were. :)

YUCK!

How about a little bit of caked on scud? The passage ways were almost completely closed.

Almost done: (newly powder coated UIM and TB)

We also did this: took the oil pan off, cleaned it and put a new gasket on:

The car got a new WP gasket also and we installed this:

We also installed side skirts:

The car still has it's boo-boo from the hit and run, above the rear bumper on the side. :(

You should have come down to do all your cleaning. We worked from 11 am on Sat. until 2:30 on Sunday morning and then started again at 11 on Sunday.

Looks good Scott!!

Thread hi-jacker! haha I was wondering how your projects were coming along.

The worst thing I think was cleaing the LIM without taking it off. It was amazing how much gunk came out. I have a coffee can that is filled with 2/3 of a roll of paper towels. I really didn't want to mess with the fuel system as I seem to have the, If i touch it it will break syndrom right now...

Speaking of which my next project is to clean up my mess. lol I'll be down stairs.

Now I feel like ripping into MY uppers & lowers ... just for the heck of it  !! I'd hope with just 36k on mine , it doesn't need it - yet  .

Good job guys !

Christine - Steph's car's steppin' up - looks great . I'm suprised you aven't found her a factory trunk spoiler yet , in all your trips to harry's .

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hi-jack. :( ;)

You cleaned the LIM with it on? We took it off. It was nasty, took me hours to clean. I was full of :censored: and brake cleaner. I still have grease under my nails. :D

I understand that, if you touch it it will break. You haven't had the best luck lately.

I hope yours doesn't look like that either. :) And, if it did...I'm a pro at cleaning UIM/LIM's. I'll get dirty so you don't have too. :D

Steph doesn't want a factory spoiler for this car. She wanted one for the 4 banger but not this one for some reason.

That's because I get them all first! :D

Looks like steph has a nice SE. Got any other pics?

Hit and run? :nonono:  At least it's in good hands.

She likes the looks of this one without the spoiler. The 4 banger was kinda plain so it looked good with one.

I thought about getting the spoiler that Aaron has on his car but didn't, thought Steph might change her mind. Good thing we left it there. :D

It was hit in her apartment parking lot at the end of last year. It's on the list to get fixed. If I had more time while she was home I would have fixed and painted it, now someone else is going to have to do it.

I have more shots of her car. I'll send them to you so I don't totally hi-jack Scott's post. ;)

Don't be lazy Ian, jump in and clean it. You'll see a nice difference in how the car runs.

yeah ill get there but i work 40 hours this week no time. plus i love how my car runs/ slightly crappy with a nice sound of a wining in the stero

Thanks for your generosity LUCA, my Contour really appreciates it. ;) Plus it works well with my whole color scheme.

Yes, it does go well with your color scheme. See, I leave good parts in the yard, I don't take everything. ;)

lol since this was originally my thread. The vid finally uploaded.

Car is still running funny in the video and you tell it stalls. Guess there was too much TBC gas still in the intake. It cleared up and the car ran fine after a few minutes. I finally actually got a audio clip of my exhaust, usually my crappy HP dig-cam won't catch the audio and will just chop it up.

Nice Scott, but you should have taken the LIM off, it's so simple! Next time give me a call because mine'll probably need it again by then and we can take everything off for a real cleaning. Still it looks pretty clean though, now all you need is 3 pedals and 5 gears! Haha just pickin on you, I have no room to talk, my pass. side is horrible, one kick to the fender, one black mark from a parking lot on the front bumper, and now a dent and some scrapes by the gas door that I have a sneaking suspicion is the work of my mom, a horrible driver who used my car for a week and a half while I was at school.

Christine, looks like you've been busy, wanna come do those things to my car? haha.

Sounds good Scott. I did notice that it stalled. Is everthing OK now?

Dan, you need to come to my house for the UIM/LIM cleaning. I love to get dirty so it will be fun. :D

Header installs will cost you though. ;) We're getting good at them now with two installs in 7 months.

yeah Its fine. It was running rough when I started it. It just took a little time to work the TB cleaner out.

I ran it today and noticed a slight difference. I think the secondaries are probably working alot better. They won't move too well when the gunk was inside. but once the whole row was clean, you could tap the vavle and feel it move with the slight tolerance of the lim. Before it was just a dead thud and the pulse of a flick wouldn't travel at all.

I armor the hell out of the duratech cover and put it back on, then armored all the bay. I should get shots of that. Looks really sweet. I even took some steel wool to the valve covers and block to remove that nasty NEPA oxidation!!!
