typical ford

Time for an obvious question.
What's wrong with it?
outa the blue the PATS went into security lock out and i couldnt reset it
No flatbed?! Funk that.
all the availabe flat beds were in use getting people outs ditches...hahaha:)
it was cool though, the driver was wicked carefull...he was worried he was going to screw something up, he said "man i wish i could have one of these cars, i have always liked them" my reply was "you really dont want to get into the dread of owning a csvt"

How did it fare on the trip to the shop? I know when mine died on the highway once, the truck driver had a hell of a time not getting my rear bumper and exhaust chewed up.

like i said he was really carefull and he put the front of the car at the minimum height for transport...in the pic he has the normal ride height and before he left he droppd it down about another foot...and it was only 5-8mile trip

Sorry about its non starting.

I just had the same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. It stalled right in front of my company's underground garage and blocked the gate. After the parking attendents pushed it down the ramp, I managed to detach the negative terminal of the battery and reattached it 2 minutes later. The car then started no problem.

Meanwhile, I also found, if you have an autoscanner attached on the OBD-II port, the car starts right up. I have this:

Now I have it in my car always. I just can't imagine to be stucked on the highway in a winter night without being able to move the car. While this scanner is attached, it somewhat bypass the PATS (I believe) so the car can start. Once it starts, removing the autoscanner will immediately stall the car, so I keep it attached, so long as it does not interfere with my legs while driving. After I get the car safely home, I can do the battery reset trick.

When I blew up my transmission in St.Louis Park, MN I towed it 45 miles home on a tow dolly with my lifted F-150(3" Suspension, 33's). The back sat so low that it almost scrapped inching over the speed bumps in the ramp. I made it all the way down 694, 35W, and Highway 8 to my house without a scratch! I was scared, I had just filled it with gas too, so there was minimal clearence.
Sorry to hear that you had problems, I'm sure pulling the Neg cable off for a few minutes would have solved your issue wit hthe PATS.

as for the scanner, we had one hooked up last night. same one really....now the tab at the dealer is up to 350, and its not just the pats, they have to figure out what else is going wrong...ill keep everyone posted

How could it be 350? They have to diagnose it first and ask how you want to proceed. The dignostic should be about $70.

Stealership diagnostic is $135 in my hood...........

$214 for a running car sounds like a good deal as your downtime was minimal.

See the problem was they diagnosed and "fixed" the car. Had they not fixed it the bill would have been less. lol

Sorry to hear about the problems. But yes unhooking the battery may have done the trick to reset the car.

And just a thought, How new is your battery? Cause my car did all kinds of goofy **** when the battery bit the dust. And depending how sensative the Pats system is, it may see that your battery is droping to low voltage even when its parked and may beleive that someone is messing with the car. But I'm not really sure what the Pats system really does besides the coded key to start the car.
