Yeah I know its not about my Mystique, but the gf's car has a twitch. At about 40km it hesitates, bucks a tad. Not sure if its rpm related or not but Ive just noticed that it does it at about 40-55km. Gf says it does it more when she slows down and speeds up again (like coming onto and coming off the freeway ramps) Also a couple times it has revved up without any gas given to it. Doesnt buck or anything, just revs up.

Anyone have any ideas? I thought it was a fuel filter, changed it, no effect. I was thinking maybe fuel pump, hard to tell as its a new car to us and I dont know its maintenance history.

As in most things diagnostic, it would help if you would tell us the basics. What year is the Taurus and which engine does it have.

In generic terms I would look to see if it has a dirty throttle body, dirty IAC, and check the operation of the TP sensor.

I would clean the throttle body and IAC as maintenance and then see if the problem continued. If it does, I would check out the TP sensor to see if it has any glitches in it.

Any other ideas here would be welcome.

ah ok. I should have started this earlier. Would have been better when we didnt have any snow and it was 10c outside! But will do and post later.
Also try a bottle of HEET or fuel stabilizer. In the cold weather up North, that is almost a mandatory thing with each tank of gas.

I take it she has it in a garage or has it plugged in to keep the engine warm.
