engine stops reving after 6k

..they are the 4s (with four "arms" if you will) can those be gapped?
..
I would think so.

Read what was posted by Chongo in the old forums about 1.5 years ago.

"Well I spent this morning going over the car and other than a complete tear down I don't know where to go next.
I did the Motorvac cleaning last April so the system should still be clean.
I Replaced the whole stock intake and had to regap the plugs. Spark and wires tested okay and I didn't find any visible vacum leaks.
Only #6 was still at proper gap. The rest were anything from .58 to.62
I checked these 4 months ago so I'm shocked that they can get that far out of gap in a short period."

can these bad boys be gapped

I think youre on to something with the IMRC trick. I need to go get another one and fix it then put it in my car. theyre only $14 at this junkyard i go to and do you know anything about the cable replacement. ive tried that once but destroyed the circuit board trying to figure how to get the cable out and gave up...(replace!)

tony ive got a question...do you have an idea why my car has gone through 5 IMRCs? i cant figure out what would cause that? is it just the bad resistor?

I ran over a big puddle during the rain season in the sacramento valley and for weeks after the repairs where done it'd still stop reving up at about 4800 it played havock on the engine for a good bit of time but eventually worked it's way out. Have you ran over any big puddles lately?

Translation. Some of the wires or electronics got wet but not enough to "fry". When it eventually dried out, things were fine again.

Just how smart are the computers in the tours? do they know how to compensate for losses like newer cars can do. the reason i ask is not to long ago i threw a weird code having to do with bank 1 it wasnt PO420 thats the pesky one i think about everyone seems to have throne(insuficiant oxygen upstream bank 1) anyway i cleared the computer and so went the code. it hasnt shown up since but i guess i have another part to my intelligence question. as many may know acura's computers are programed to run on any unleaded gasoline 87-93 or whatever does the contours computer non HO motor compensate timing if you put in 91 instead of 87? O and another thing i only run shell petrol in my car...only shell

With the exception of the SVT, we are to run 87 octane. However, should "pinging" of the engine occurs., then sometimes 89 is suggested to see if it alleviates the "pinging". Most times, we suggest UIM/LIM rebuild or "tune up".

93, 87 it makes no difference in a ford. the octane rating is for the compresion of the engine. since ford recommends 87 for contours you should just stick to it. plus you save money.
