Hey guys I am at a decision point for my 2000 Green SVT I have had for 23 years. My rockers are rusted out but I found someone that can fix them. It will cost approximately $3k. The car has 211k with a 3.0 with 30k on it. Overall, the rest of the car is in decent shape considering the age and mileage. But I have noticed it is getting harder to find good parts. The clutch is still original but my son is driving the car now so I am not sure how much longer it will last, meaning a painful maintenance item. The other issue is I don't have a garage to keep it in anymore. I know this is an enthusiast site but what do you guys think. Check out the pictures, the driver’s side is very bad. The body guy wants me to get the whole rocker cut out from a southern car so it should be fixed right. People come up to talk about the car all the time.20241103_134955.jpg20241103_135105.jpg

Wow, that's bad , & yeap your from the East Coast for sure.

That's a Big decision, and that's a ton of work on a Uni body car, which if done wrong can cause a even bigger problems ,like doors that don't close right, etc. I guess he/she understands there are Jacking points involved.

But $3K isn't much, if talking $100 min per hour shop rate, that only 30 hours, which sound cheap. Rust sucks & is hard to fix
the right way and or completely.

Also with NO garage to put it back , I don't know.

I sold/replaced my stock 98.5 with 181K, 2 years ago, replacing it with a almost rust free 99 with <100K for < $3K, which i thought mine had bad rust , but it still had way less rust that. And i always had a garage to store it.

if it was me, i'd look for either a Low mileage , or just think back on all the Fun you had with it , though Junking it would
break your Heart i'd bet.

Low mileage nice ones are very hard to find at this point and they are going for 8k on the bidding sites. All my kids want another green one which is even harder to find. But if I could I probably would. I have seen some of the work the body guy has done and it should be good.

I think you should. Also, where'd you get your hood and wing from if you don't mind me asking? I also have a green SVT and that hood looks amazing and I really want to get one now.

Not sure if you are looking at some other pictures of a green car my hood and spoiler are stock.
