Broken Bolts
CEG'er
My 98 SVT engine makes a ticking sound at idle only when the engine is 200 degrees. And its ••••ing loud. When it is cold as ambient temperature 80 degrees, it sounds like a brand new engine. Only ticks when hot. From 2000 rpm to 7000 rpm you can not hear the ticking. Engine sounds mint and makes loads of power. Engine does not smoke at all.
Here is what it ISN'T:
Spark plugs
Rod bearings
Timing chains
Timing chain tensioners
Timing chain tensioner arms
Timing chain guides
Harmonic balancer
Hydraulic lash adjusters (replaced all 24)
Exhaust manifold gaskets (replaced both banks and manifolds are not cracked)
I replaced all of the above and it still makes the same exact noise.
The sound is DEFINITELY coming from the front bank, bank 2, and is coming from cylinder number 4. Its not the rod bearing.
Someone said wrist/piston pin? How can this happen? Because the dip•••• I bought it off of redlined the piss out of it? Because it's a ••••ty FORD? Why is only one making noise? Why does ford build heaping piles of garbage? I WILL take this car apart and smash every last piece with a sledgehammer.
