2 weeks ago discovered a blown headgasket on the front cylinder head after a compression test that only proved my theory that the overfueling has infact done more damage than I would have wanted to believe. Now after a very long and disapointing fone call to my local ford dealer i was told that all internal engine parts for this engine has been discontinued(including a sub-assembly).
They can provide me with a oil pump(at a crazy price!) and a timing chain and guide kit(equally expensive..unaffordable realy).

Aftermarket internal parts are availabe at a fairly steep but decent price.
Engine overhaul gasket set
Set of headbolts
Set of piston rings
Hydraulic lifters
Timing chain kit
Intake and exhaust valves
Big end bearings
Main bearings

Nobody around here can provide me pistons. So there goes the rebuild out the window cause i know for a fact those pistons has been slapped around. High mileage and overfueling doesnt go good together plus i have a heavy foot.

So then i had this great idea(well still like the idea). To find a 2.0 zetec blacktop or a focus rs duratec 2.0 turbo and swop it out with my v6, still have a car to drive( honestly i need the engine to still be a ford) then with the v6 on the bench i could realy take my time, maby import some custom pistons.. look into the idea of ITB's a little, u know breath it all in and produce something never seen in this parts before. Only one fricken problem i cant find a the 4 cylinder that i want which is very frustrating. I know that importing could be an option but with this countrys economy i might as wel buy the new mondeo.

Now i have read a load of threads thus far and sure I will be reading much more from hear on all about the 3.0 transplants which is seriously growing on me and i think starting from monday i am definatly going to try and find one, depending on the price offcoars. As i understand the fors taurus has a 3.0 duratec, mazada 6, MPV and the jaguar x type(the vvt isnt a problem for me cause i'v been running the v6 on a aftermarket EMU four years now) now u would probably be wondering where the overfueling came from. I custom fit a vacuuum connection on the UIM so my EMU has its own direct vacuum coupling. Took the car for a dyno and bang... a couple weeks later headgasket.

I do have a question thou. Is internal engine parts still available for the 3.0 duratec from ford?

I'm not too sure if internals are available from ford. I'm sure they are because there's so many of the 3.0s out there it's ridiculous. I actually just picked up my 3.0 today for 300$. They're cheap enough to buy/install/fool around and buy another if it blows up. However they do not make many if any aftermarket "performance" parts for the 3.0. It's very disappointing.

Nearly Every 2.5l " performance " part bolts on to a 3L.

You can buy new internals, i wouldn't bother with oem rods.

Ur very lucky to get it so cheap, when u buy a motor over here u better be sure about what u want because u going to spend alot of money on it. Engineering work is extremely expensive, as is performance parts. Atleast I save on labour cost cause unlike most ppl I do the work myself.

Considering costs the 3.0 might not be the best option for me. At the moment I just want to keep my car going, so Im going with the 2.0 duratec turbo and adding some performance parts in the future. My 2.5 v6 will be my project for the time being and I am realy looking forward to to designing a motor that is internally sound with extraudinary power.

So wait can't you get a 3.0L with low miles out of a junk yard from another car at a lower cost than what your spending on that 2.0L Duratec turbo? You don't need to replace the internals on the 3.0L to put it in your car. A straight up swap from a 2.5L to a 3.0L is worth 20-30whp in itself.

Also if you are dead set on performance parts why can't you buy the performance parts from the US and ship it to South Africa? I would think if the parts are that expensive locally that buying them from the US with shipping would be at a lower cost for you. I shipped a lot of parts for my car from the UK for my build, however that was quite spendy as exchange rates were not in my favor.

I hear what u sayin and i agree looking into shipping from US cost wise.

Buying a new engine has never been an option because prices are insane.
I found a 1.6 silvertop zetec at a junkyard they selling with the gearbox for R11500($1000 if i convert it at 11 rand a dollar)..i do know these guys and they are sharks. I have a good friend in Johannesburg that is tryin to find me the 2.0 Duratec turbo at a reasonable price.

Now i did look for a 3.0 duratec but i havnt found one in a junkyard yet. I did find a bussines selling import engines and his price for the 3.0 is R9800($853) which i think is way over the top considering i must still courier the engine 1500 kilometers.

Thats why im saying u guys must realy enjoy the big variety and availability of engines that side cause down here u have to have a thick wallet to fool around with a simple engine swop or a rebuild and then still deal with those sharks trying to get rich with one sale!!

Have seriousely considered leaving this country cause this is the wrong place to be when have a passion for engines and mechanics.

Im a qualified diesel mechanic and i asure u the salary is pathetic.

I will look at the option to import before i just discard it. Problem is im not sure where to start.
