Has anyone ever made their own turbo kit on here? What did you use for manifolds if you did? I made my own for my 240SX. but this is a different beast as far as engine compartment room. Just curious as I happen to have a turbo laying around and I'm tempted.

Stazi also built both his kits..one for his 2.5L and then a new design for his 3.0L.

Which is now owned by ryanblacksvt.

the stazi kit is just a modified ADC kit. not really something you can make out of a set of stock manifolds.... assuming this guy is a 240 fan, most of them get pretty good at making their own stuff. building a turbo manifold out of a couple stock manifolds is SIMPLE.

Never done one on a contour but I'm sure with some MSDS headers, piping cut/welded to fit, T3 from a supercoupe, aftermarket bov/wg/intercooler and some creativity and you'd make a kit for cheap that'd make just as much power as an aftermarket unit.

Question is can you weld and do you have the money to upgrade the rest of the car to handle the turbo? Like fuel system, quaife, and suspension to actually use the extra power.

I made my own custom turbo system ( I made my own custom water to air IC and it's system, all the piping in 321 and 304L SS.....), Stilov made his own (With a lot of que's from me), Blackwidow had a custom one made and as pointed out a few times Warmonger has made a couple of custom systems.

I'm assuming you meant turbocoupe, since the supercoupe came with an Eaton M90 blower. And of course, as its been said, it most definately has been done before, and a plain T3 from a turbocoupe is too small at the compressor to be worthwhile even on a 2.5L Contour.

yeah. to even bother turboing the tour, you gotta use a non-stock turbo. people have this idea that they are going to use turbo's "off another car" but all the turbos considered are way too small. turboing these cars is expensive, either way you look at it. custom or not, the price is almost the same in the end.

Unless you used 2 :D

Wow... I mean I have never done one on a Contour before. Obviously there have been plenty of custom units done before... And you guys think the .63 AR T3 off a mid 80s t-bird would be too small for a Contour? Oh well then there are always plenty of options online.

where is striker in this thread lol.......... Also to the OP I thought i saw somewhere your in the east TN area? Where you located?
