I have a 1998 Contour SE, i hate automatics and i want to switch to a manual. My grandparents bought the car for me, i didnt think much of the car at first until i really started to drive it, it had 142xxx when they bought it and now its at 151000 after almost 6 months. I've been making plans for the future of dropping in a 3L, but i also want a manual, preferably a Ford Mondeo 6 spd but 5 spd is acceptable. If anyone has any information on what must be done to perform the swap, and where i can find the parts locally in NJ?

I'm open to all information, and tips
 
sell the auto and buy a 5 speed. its easier, its cheaper and you wont hate your car AS much.

^^^^This. Selling the auto and buying a manual would be the easiest, cheapest, and smartest option. If you were so inclined, you could step up to the SVT.

Someone else offered up decent advice and it was seconded by another!!! Wow I just about fell off of my chair.

Good advice, buy a manual and sell the auto instead of attempting a swap.
