For the last month I did a complete overhaul of my 2.5 Mystique with some performance upgrades. Just ran a batch of Royal Purple 10W30 on my last oil change, its good I just find it a little too.. strongly endowed with detergents and is now very very clean. I was wondering what weight/brand other people are using. By true synthetic I'm talking group IV oils.

Thanks in advance.

I run Castrol Edge with Syntec Power Tech (formerly Syntec) in the SVT and Edge FST (gold bottle) in the van. Always been happy with the performance. 5w30 in both

So thin oil? I've heard good things about Amsoil but cannot find it for the life of me here in New York, probably will end up ordering it online

I would run 5w20, but amsoil's top shelf oil doesn't come in that weight. Order it online and pay the extra $20 to join their preferred customer club....you save around 20% on your order

Rotella T6 5W40 in the Vr4. I have also used Schaeffer's 15W40 as well, great stuff, better than Mobil 1 or Amsoil. it just has to be ordered online so i go with the T6 since i can get it locally.

Amsoil 5W-30 in both the Contour and the Cobra. I usually change it in the Contour every 5000 miles or so but I'm stretching the drain interval out this time a little further. There's 6000 miles on that change now and the oil is still brown. Last oil change I also changed the transaxle fluid with the Amsoil Synchromesh as it was due... it shifts 100 times better than it used to.

Its expensive but worth it IMO... to me its the best synthetic hands down.

I use Schaeffers 5W30 it's the best oil I have ever seen. We tested it on the Timkin film test and it out performs Royal purple and Mobil 1 can't even compete (I don't think we ever tried Mobil 1s top of the line stuff) I have one shop that sells Schaeffers locally and thats why I don't use anything else. plus its cheaper than everything else

X2!
using amsoil in the engine, trans, and brake fluid

are you using an amsoil oil filter Kilroy?

I use the Ford FL820S filter on the Contour, and a Ford Racing FL1HP filter on the Cobra. The main reason for this though is the only place I can get the oil and filters locally is really expensive... the Amsoil filters are more than double the price of the stock Ford filter. The filter for the Cobra I get from Tousley as its a racing spec filter.

I dont use the Amsoil filters either due to the cost, I use K&N Filters on my DD and the CSVT. The CSVT gets changed once a year and I do the DD every 10K

Mobil1 isn't what it's made out to be. Amsoil is so good. I always run a name brand semi synthetic in the Svt. It seems to love the motorcraft 5w30. I have castrol syntec in it now and everything is normal. 5w40 would be good as well I think. It may only shear to a 30w at 5k or even 8k. I always change it at 3-4k. The ms3 and other engines known to be hard on oil have been showing great results with pennzoil ultra. I use the 5w30 in the ms3 and change it every 4-5k and my engine is incredibly clean. Pennzoil platinum is also a very good oil. Pennzoil has been using Shell formulations now. Shell makes the best oils in the world.

Always used Redline in my Mitsubishi's. Currently use Royal Purple in the SVT since that is what the previous owner used.

Decided to go with Amsoil heard many great things and just talked to a local distributor. Is the Motorcraft filter good to use with amsoil? Ill be changing oil probably every 5000 miles.
