Im traveling out to the Chicago area for my gf's aunts 50th b-day party (what fun!). Ill be in town thursday through sunday, and we are staying in Oak Forest. Is there anything worth checking out in that area? We usually take the train and go downtown to do some sight seeing but i dont think we will make it downtown this trip.....anything of interest/fun/exciting in the southern suburbs?
Or maybe even a decent bowling alley......I have been watching the Big Lebowski a little too much!

Which reminds me there is a lebowski festival in Chicago march 7-9 which I might just have to check out too, if anything its a good excuse to pull the SVT out from its covered quarters a little early :)

thanks!

Beware - it is going to be COLD this weekend. I'd advise against any and all activities that require any time outdoors.

From the National weather service:

"...it looks like Old Man Winter is poised to make a strike late in the week and into the weekend. Some early indications are that high temperatures may struggle to get out of the single digits on Saturday, with wind chill temperatures plummeting to as low as 20 degrees below zero! "

Friday: A 40 percent chance of snow after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 15 and 20 mph.

Friday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4. Blustery, with a west northwest wind around 20 mph.

Saturday: Scattered flurries. Mostly cloudy and cold and blustery, with a high near 5.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -1.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 11.

If you havent bought your lebowskifest tickets yet... well your shi out of luck. they have long been sold out.

but iz got mine!

ya its going to be blazingly cold, I'm not going anywhere.

I know its going to be cold and WINDY

Im prepared for that, but what is there to do on that side of town.....thats inside?

I know we will be about ten minutes from Oak Park Mall, if that helps out with what area I will be in.

We should be leaving here in a few hours, just need to drop the dog off at the kennel and do a quick oil change and we will be on the road

Its funny how the SVT can make it there in exactly 1 tank of gas, gas light usually comes on right as we get off the Dan Ryan, but the GF's 4 banger Ion has to stop in Indiana to fuel up.....thats GM's engineering at its finest I guess
