Well, i think my rod bearing might be slowly dying, because i'm starting to hear the knocking noise but only when the engine is hot. Is there ANY possible way i can prevent it from getting worse other than changing the bearings?

SHO guys get away with it. Usually in a Duratec you're too late. You can always try though.

hi yur bearings are gonna get eaten up again and again, yur just gonna be wasting yur money buying them, u need another engine or replace that crankshaft which is an engine out process again, have a look on the crankshaft where u took out the first connecting rod cap to change the bearing, u will find that yur bearing will be started to eaten up again and it will be flat from the edges and possibly sharp as well, me personally id get another engine in it, a 3 liter conversion or get another car as a last resort, if that crankshaft is scored its always gonna eat that bearing until it gets replaced or new engine in it :(
