From doing some research I havent found alot on the 1st gen 2nd gen Taurus Sho Transmission. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible to Bolt up a first or second gen Taurus Sho manual trans mtx-IV to the 2003 3L Taurus block. I know that was a yamaha 3L built motor but wondering if they kept same bolt pattern or not and trans mounts???

Sorry couldnt figure out if I wanted to post in the transaxle section or Duratec 3L

Thanks,
Robb

No the bolt patterns are different. It would only work with an adapter. Also the SHO tranny con only hold around 350ftlb and the Quafie cost around $1200.

not to mention there are zero sho mtx parts availible. you can't buy new synchros or any bearings for them any more. guys are rebuilding them with used parts from transmissions they hoarde. a built mtx75 is pretty stout and fairly cheap to build. way better in my opinion

Well this is my situation I can get a fully built mtx IV trans for 80 bucks I blew the trans in my car right now and just need something to go in temporarily or until. I blow that up or rebuild the current trans in my car right now. So my question is what will it take to find buy an adapter plate or make one???

Thanks,
Robb

It will take more money to buy or make an adapter plate and modify everything to make the trans fit in the car than it would to just find a used MTX-75 from a Contour.

Yank a pre98 MTX75 and convert your car to rod shift. Rod shift > cable shift, pre98 diff > later diff.

I think the official answer is TIME. if you need a quick/temporary solution, reinventing the wheel is not the way to go.

Yeah pretty much but I was just throwing that thought out onto the discussion boards thanks guys for the input though just going to take trans I have in it right now and rebuild it dont know exactly what i did but thinking differential it had alot of wheel hop off the line at the drag strip and broke right there at the starting line. So time to drop trans and see what i did.
