im interested in a magnaflow universal catalytic converter for my svt, so my question is if its worth it ? im not expecting a huge increased in performance or sound, just upgrading slowly and its a inexpensive mod, so what the advantage ?

i currently have MSDS header + Y-pipe, magnaflow resonator, the piping and the rear muffler are stock svt.

another quick question, what the size of the OEM svt rear muffler, do magnaflow make a performance replacement muffler of the same size that will bolt-on there ?

So called "Hi Flow" cats usually are not nearly as effecient as stock and may cause you problems when you try to get a smog test. This is especially true if you have removed the pre'cats (I see you have headers).

Changing the main cat will not do much to change or improve performance.

the good thing is we dont have any emission test to past over here in quebec, the only time you need to past inspection is if you have your car in storage withtout a licence plate for more than a year :)

I'll just reinforce Big Jim - again. He usually gets things spot-on. The stock cat is VERY good as is. You will gain very little to nothing by changing it.

Stazi should be able to recommend a pair of Magnaflows to put at the back of your car that will sound nice & add a little performance. Sounds like you have a good start so far.

Other than that, you might check a few other things like the front control arms & the front/rear sway bar end links. Make sure those are up to par & keep your ride handling like new. Save up for a BAT or Koni suspension kit...

plus if you take a good look at the stock cat pipe section, you will see how hard it is to weld up a high flow to the stock pipe section [because the cat comes off at an angle off the flange]... I took mine to a couple shops and no one would touch it, "too difficult to seal up properly".... just my 2 cents

I must say after i rippid out my cat. I gained more low end power. but too each his own... Just rip it out and replace it with a test pipe. Putting in a highflow cat will net you no gains. I know becuase i put one in. Noticed nothing. I punched out the cat material after about 6 months. After cleanign it out. I notcied a gain in low end and upper end.

Soo.... its up to you
