Ok so heres the deal, my car has been sitting in the garage for a month now up on jackstands waiting for me to fix it... I have not had the time or correct tools to do so... My grandfather came over the other day and told me its about time i get rid of this "POS" and get something new. He is bringing me to his bank tomorrow so i can open an account so he can cosign for me to get pre approved for a loan. Now i REALLY REALLY want to buy an SVT and here is my chance! So is there anyone around my area that would like to get rid of theyre SVT:shrug: . Out of the 2 ive seen in my close area they either want too much or there is too many miles for my likeing... ill update this post when i know what my price range is...

Sorry for the long post, I just want an SVT so bad:cool:

Good luck on the Find... there is a SilFro 00 with like 65k miles or less iirc in the NYC area for like

$6200....I think its on craigslist if it hasnt sold yet....

Well it looks like i might be out of luck with an svt, i need a car by early next week and no one is selling anymore lol... why couldnt this be last month when EVERYONE was selling one:laugh: ... I did get approved for a $10,000 loan though so i can actually buy a nice car... What do you guys think about golf GTIs:shrug:

The consensus is that they're fun, but I wouldn't want any part of their mediocre electronics.

The turbo, I found, takes an unusually heavy right foot to get it motivated off the line until the motor gets its wind up. The VR6, obviously, is more responsive in the low end.

This 2000 SVT with 65K miles is on Autotrader.com for $6250. It's in Long Island City.

if you can swing getting a gti go for it but only get a vr6 stay away from the 1.8 turbo way to many prob's. vr6 have awsome torque and can make impressive numbers when adding a power adder such as a turbo setup. my buddy and i built his corrado and spent maybe 7 grand in the drive train and turbo and put down an impressive 450 horse power at the wheels. total sick setup and very easy to work on not like our contours.

The one I PM'd you about is no longer for sale?

What's wrong with your tour?

nice...i'd have to get a good look at it though, LIC = mangled bumpers. though the back looks good...

I think it's kind of funny that people are raising the prices on their SVT's. Last I checked...modding a car doesn't help the value, but rather it hurts it.

I would sooner have spent $10k on Allen's car for the shear fact is was owned by a mature adult and was religiously cared for.

I however wouldn't spend that $10k for Rawburt's car or Reeb's car.

That's just my opinion though.

Yea he said someone from PA bought it

Something with the shift linkage broke inside the tranny ( http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=17760 ) see thread for details... I just havnt had the time to take apart and figure it out. I still want to keep it but i just need something thats a little more reliable and doesnt have 150k miles on it...

Im going to look for cars tomorrow because i have the day off. There is a mazda 6 i wanna go look at, its not a speed6 or anything special its the "I" version....anyone know what i should look for in this? and how good is the aftermarket for the Mazda 6?

I would love to buy one of the turbo svts but i want one that i can do everything myself i just dont wanna buy something thats already done...

Having owned both, mind you i own a golf not a GTI, but the fit and finish on the V-Dubs is miles about the contours. My contour has so many problems with the electronics (from engine harness to just windows) i dont know if it was because it was a 95 but anything that was electric seemed to not work right. I def felt more confident slamming my contour into hard turns then i did my golf or my old focus .

One of the upsides of the VW's is they hold their value so well, which can be bad when you go to purchase one. I bought my golf and put 11k miles on it so far and the trade in value on kbb has only gone down 1500$ :shcoked:. I test drove GTI VR6 and 1.8t's and R32s but insurance wise could only afford a golf. VR6 spot on with the SVT as far as im conserned with power. 1.8t can cheaply be modded to well over 300hp, same is true with the VR6.

Just my .02. In no way am i bashing the CSVT cause yes i still want one but i would prob use it as a DD, cuase i plan on getting an R32 in the near future when the points drop of my insurance.

10k for reebs car is a steal!

rawburt...i'd bid much lower.

So i picked up the 6 today, and all i can say is . I love how it hugs the road, and it deff. has some major get up and go. Ill get some pics up when i get a chance... it was almost dark by the time i got her home and bathed...

Does anyone know of a good mazda 6 forum:shrug: Preferably one with antics and sense of humor like:laugh: CEG
