Good Morning all of you Contour enthusiasts .
We bought our 99' LS 2.5l Misty in 2001 , my wife saw it for sale in the neighborhood
here in Northern Ohio. It came from Melbourne ,FL with 11k (which I sometimes doubt )It was love at first sight yet and has been such a fun car ,that my wife asks now...
"What can we get that is that much fun ,in a used car, ,now we have 66666 miles on it ..?"
I hope it will last for a much longer time .. luckily the A/C and the dash warp was fixed under warranty ,and some small things, replaced by me .. struts etc.,regular maintenance ,filters ,good oil and plugs.
I wished I could drive it more often, even at 62 plus we enjoy this
vehicle a lot . It must be the memory my European driving /up bringing ...
I appreciate this web site to make it easier to take care of our car.
Thanks to all of you!

And that is why it was started. Either that or so we can waste time at work and not get things done. One or the other.

Is that a rhetorical question - life after a Mystique V6? Because unless your car is supplying you with what is needed to keep you alive, then of course there's life beyond any car. Having said that, of the ten cars I've owned in my lifetime, I still have 5, including my first, so maybe I'm not the right person to ask.

Your Mystique should last with good maintenance. I have one like yours with 83 kmiles, and my sister has a 95 with 133kmiles. Neither of us is hurrying to replace it. My sister has had hers since 1997! I would guess (having not yet test driven) a Mazda 6 or Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan with the V6 is the closest car in "attitude" to the Mystique V6. The engine is a 3.0 liter version of the Mystique's. The Jaguar X-type is built upon the newer version of the Mondeo (Euro Contour) chassis, that might be worth a drive as well (Ford owns Jaguar). Then there's the BMW 3 series and Volvo S60R..Many choices:cool: A lot of newer cars are very fast or comfortable but lack "personality" that the Contour/Mystiques have.

I am 62 + and a lot of cars were fun out of the 53 models I have had over the years ,
The Misty seems more fun than others so far .. my V 4 Saab with A/C bought from Arizona was a fun car ..a German Ford engine I think.

You've got plenty of life left in the Mystique. My '99 Mystique has over 130,000 miles & going strong - and I drive it HARD for a 44 year old kid. ;) The Mystique also has a German engineered powerplant. The 2.5 Duratec had a Porche engine design team working on the project. Good stuff that.

Replaced a wheel bearing recently (hard driving), control arms, and got new struts. A few other misc things. I like doing my own work on the car & I LOVE having no car payments!

At 60k+ miles you're due for a throttle body cleaning to clear out those EGR passages. Easy to do it yourself or pay about $90 at a shop. If you're due for tires, I have some suggestions to suite your driving needs. Just PM me & I'll share.

There was life after my Mystique. Mine had the 2.5L with the MTX and I put just over 200,000 miles on it before selling it a few weeks ago for $1,700

Bought a '98.5 Contour SVT.
