Hard-core CEG'er
I've been working with Massive Speed System for a few weeks now on developing a good set of adjustable, tubular rear control arms for the Cougar/Mystique/Contour. In the past, the Bradness/Redcoat Racing arms were the only alternative, and they haven't been produced for a number of years. Used sets still sell for $200 and up in the Classifieds section - on the rare occasions anyone actually parts with them.
I am testing a set of prototype control arms from Massive right now. They are hefty powdercoated aluminum tubular arms, with double heim joints and anodized aluminum bushings. They are built to the same quality specifications as Massive's popular Focus and Mustang lower control arms shown on their website. I installed them this past weekend, and had the car aligned today. As soon as it stops raining in central Ohio, I'll finally be able to push them a little to get some real driving impressions. So far, the daily driving aspect is hardly changed; there is no perceptible added harshness or noise.
Here are a few photos:
The Massive arm next to a stock control arm. Both of my OEM arms were deformed simply from spirited driving.
The Massive control arm installed.
These will have a list price of $199 per pair from Massive. They are in the process of trying to source all-new mounting hardware to include with each order as well. In addition to the added strength, these parts allow for extra rear toe adjustability.
I'll update further as I receive more information from Massive. Keep an eye on their website as well for emerging details and sales.
