Hi,
Over the last few weeks I have enjoyed reading through the posts on this site. One key difference is apparent to me in north america the Contour was/is a niche market car, but in the UK, The Mondeo is the benchmark standard by which all other cars in it's class are judged. In fact it is so high profile that even in the world of politics Mr Average, whose vote is sought by all parties is refered to as ''Mondeoman''. Not withstanding that on both sides of the Atlantic we have one other major thing in common, we all suffer from a dirth of modifying parts for our cars.

Here in North America, the Contour was most definately NOT a niche market car. The only niche market version was the SVT model, much like your ST200 model. The reason it seems more niche market, is because this site is heavily biased by enthusiasts who like to modify thier contours, and enjoy them. The general public opinion in North America of the Contour is based largely on the vast fleets of contours sold to rental companies, which were the stripped down and underpowered models.

Contour = car of choice for grandmas everywhere. ;)
(those are the smart grandmas that know they can't drive a Crown Victoria because it's too darn big!)

was gonna say, I wouldn't of said the Standed Contour was a Niche market car, except the SVT.

But yes most cars in the same class are compared to the Mondeo for some reason
