No more tinkle when headlights left on or keys in ignition and you get out of car.

I tried saw palmetto (oops, sorry mostly young guys here you haven't heard of it, but you will if you drive carefully ha ha ha) in the gas tank.

Any off the cuff ideas such as where the tinkler is or is it on a fuse? Don't think too hard I can trace it down, just any quick ideas, thanks!!

If you are referring to the door chime, mine wasn't working when I bought the car. I sprayed a little penetrant/lubricant in the driver's door switch. Push it in and let it snap back a few times with your finger. Seems to have done the trick.

Always try the simplest fix first. :)

Interior lights work ok on this '95 V6 Mystique when door opened, chime normally works with ignition key also, so probably chime bad? Oddly trouble seemed to happen in stages, for short time it worked with headlightslights but not ignition key or vice versa.

Give the door switch a try. Cheapest fix and if it doesn't work, you can then rule it out. Again, my tinkler didn't always work to tell me my keys were in the ignition or if I left my lights on but, my interior lights worked fine. Every once in a while it would work but, not that often. This was my experience which could be unique to my car. However, a shot of lubricant is cheaper than buying new parts.

Spray worked!

Spray worked!

Thanks for the quick fix, hadn't thought lights working and chime not working related to door switch but it was. Sprayed switch with nearest thing I could find "Food Grade Silicone" and pushed it in and out couple times, it works both with headlights and key now!!!!

Perhaps light circuit is less sensitive than solid state chime circuit...

Thanks,

Mike
