Does anybody on here have any background on Michigan law? I have a few questions I want to ask and was wondering if anybody knew someone I could talk to?

You really shouldn't try to fight it. You were lucky enough to not get slammed for all the other violations. I would laugh my ass off if the cop showed up, decided to be a dick and give you the other tickets / fines. You were let off lucky, why push it?

they have these people who know lots about michigan law. they're called lawyers.

you don't see us asking you about how to pick up women, do ya?

well duh, but lawyers make you pay for their time.

What the heck is this about Jared, maybe someone can help out:confused:

I really just wanted to know something about ticketing.

My mom claims that if you recieve 3 speeding ticketings in 6 months you can have your licence pulled.

which is why I am considering fighting this ticket I recently when bill and I test drive his Zetec tour after fixing the timing belt, I can't afford the points on my insurance. I was wondering what my chances of just getting the ticket taken off my record and just having to pay the fines would be? Because in reality I was speeding, I wont argue that, but it was to test drive a car, to make sure everything was safe in it for the possibility of a future buyer. I didn't want any possibility for failure on this project so every aspect of failure was tested on the car, it passed the tests. But in the process I got a ticket.

I also wanted to know, if you have PLPD insurance, if you can use your insurance to replace a cracked windshield under Michigan law.

I have a great Laywer to :)

*Jason at the local courthouse* "ahh Mr. Kanakry, what law have you chosen to break today?"

That can be done within speed limits. That's not going to fly with anyone.:help:

Not regular freeway driving,

this is stupid I know: the car had no insurance or registration on it, The logic put into speeding on a back country road was that the risk of endangering anybody else around me was considerably lower, and since there was no insurance or registration, driving the car 15 miles, through town, to a freeway entrance to take it up to 70 miles an hour would be even more idiotic then driving the car at 70 on a back road for 1/4 of a mile then turning around to go back to the garage, mind you on a road that very few people drive on over the course of a sunday at noonish.

Im just going to let the cat out of the bag, the reason for the intensive test drive is that I am considering buying the car. It seems like a good excuse to a judge, "I didnt want to pay for insurance and registration, because I am considering buying the car, and a quick swing down the block and back to see how well it runs didn't seem like that big of a deal, especially on a back road. At which point, if I liked the car I would pay for the insurance and registration and what not. The speeding part was entirely wrong, but again it was illegal to be driving the car in the first place driving it on a conjested freeway would raise likelihood of an accident and hurting somebody else, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to buy a car that was going to shake apart first chance it got. So driving it down a backroad at freeway speeds seemed like the safest option for my test drive." I want my old zetec contour back, and this is as close as I am going to get, plus its in overall better condition, aside from needing the bumper repainted. I just want to get rid of the corolla, and get behind of a car that makes me feel happy to be driving it, rather then a car that just gets me somewhere as economically as possible, which seems to be a cop magnet for some weird ass reason, who would of thought a White Toyota Corolla with some white nerdy looking kid would get so much attention from the cops?

I don't think it's becasue it's a white corolla, i think it's because you are just speeding at the wrong times. My corolla is red, which is an often targeted color, it's lowered, had his, and the recent addition of af art can. But i have never been hassled as much as it may stand out. Odd are that the "test drive" excuse isn't going to get you anywhere because regardless of situation you were speeding and you knew it, and you wer driving with no registration or insurance, which you knew abuot. Now if you were legitimately going to someone's house, and they offered to let you test drive the car and didn't tell you it had no insurance or registration you might get out of it, but knowing about it isn't going to help you.

Buying another zetec MTX is the most retarded thing I've ever heard since SVT's can be picked up for so cheap. Unless you buy the car for $500.

If you go in there and say it wasn't registered or insured, the judge could just as easily hit you with those offenses because you admitted guilt.

I got a 65 in a 35. The cop wrote down 45 in a 35, but noted it was actually 65. It said "actual speed 65, courteous, respectful, leniency given"

when I went to court to request I just pay a fine, or do driving school. The judge flipped on me. He told me that I had no place contesting a ticket that I was given leniency on, and the only reason he wasn't going to give me the full 65mph was because it was noted that I was courteous and respectful!

Sorry man, you're stuck with this one.

whats wrong with it? I just want a car thats a stick, clearly I shouldn't get a car for speed.

and what about a focus SVT? thats a Zetec with an MTX

1. Bite the bullet and pay the ticket.
2. Cross your fingers and hope your insurance company is like mine, and they only check your record, once every 3 years.
3. Learn your lesson, and quit speeding. You're in college, do some calculations to figure out how much time you ACTUALLY save by speeding.
4. The judge is going to laugh when he has your entire record in front of him, when you go in there to contest this ticket. Would you believe a guy that got busted for the 3rd time on cocaine possession, that he didn't really have cocaine on him the 3rd time he was arrested? :help:
