i just drove out to Charlton MA to pick up some caddy parts i found on Craigslist.

the guy stripped a 1969 caddy a couple of years ago and had the parts in his shed, so my neighbor and i drove out there today and picked up a nose (sans bumper) and a set of taillights.
and it wasn't until we started moving the parts around that we realized just how well cars were made back then.
the hood must weigh close to 200 pounds! and i thought that all the parts would fit in the truck easily...not so.
the fenders, inner fenders, and radiator support just fit into the bed and the hood is actually too wide to fit inside the bedrails!

now to find the time to clean them up and paint them and get them ready to put on the hearse.

my front fenders and hood had some pretty nasty rot that was not repaired right.
so, i will clean up the new sheet metal and put it on the car.
eventually the whole car will need a paint job since there is rot popping up everywhere. and when it gets repainted it will have flames again.

Not sure its how well made the cars were back then but more to how heavy they were made, no wonder they needed 500 cubes with 550 ft/lbs of torque to move them, geeez! Can't wait to see some pics of all this stuff when it comes together!

If you EVER need any help working on the car (especially welding :D), PLEASE let me know. I would be beyond stoked if I could get to work on that thing.

i will definitely take you up on the welding offer.
i could use someone to show me how to do it right, instead of me blowing bigger holes in the sheet metal!
