paint job

has any1 had there car painted by maaco. if so about how much does it run & do they do a decent job.i know they are pretty cheap compared to most places but is there work as cheap as there prices. is it even worth going to them?

I had a paint job by maaco like 13yrs ago and they did a decent job on top of body repair. There was aguy there the same time as me though raising hell about a paint run on his car. I really didn't care because anything was better then the paint I had at the time. If I really cared about my paint job I wouldn't go there.

I had a car painted there like 10 years ago. The paint job was terrible. They painted my car the wrong color, there was runs in the paint, a ton of over spray, and after about 6 months it started chipping off.

Put it this way, you get what you pay for. Maaco does little to no prep work when it comes to painting and it shows. I think I ended up paying around $800. On the other hand I knew someone who had got a Tracker painted for around $300 and it looked pretty decent...

if I had to do it all over again I would stay away. If you need work done save up your money and do it right the first time

look for a local tech school with a auto body repair class. you can usually get a pretty good job done there for the cost of supplies.

When I was in high school, my family had 2 cars painted at the local vocational school. They came out perfect, we couldn't have been happier with the results. You have to be patient though, expect it to take the entire semester. We just had to pay for the materials plus a 10% shop fee.

This again, the local tech center around here will do almost anything for free you just supply the supplies..if that makes sense.

When I got my car painted at Maaco I had hit a tree and totaled the car. I found a parts car for free and swapped the entire front end by myself. The parts car was black and my car was gray so it looked terrible, but it was better than it being all smashed. I roles the dice and took it to Maaco, and like I said I, personally, wouldn't go there again. Like Con2er said it was better than it being multiple colors but still...not worth it

It didn't make that much of a difference to me since the car was totaled and I used the insure money to bring it back. But really, if you save and get it done by a reputable shop you'll be much happier, especially in the long run

2000myst had his car painted by Macco. However he did about 90% of the prep work himself. The paint did turn out well. However i would believe its only because he put the time into the car to prep it correctly. I good paint job take good prep work. I paint many time what macco would charge. However the prep work was great, small dents and dings I never saw before where filled on the car.
