Hey folks!!!
I was just curious about the longevity of our tours/mystiques. I am pushing the 240,000 mile mark and running strong! I am however burning some oil lately and feel that she could be very slowly bleeding to death. My only major repairs, aside of routine maintainance, being a timing chain guide replacement (threw in a valve job and new chains for giigles, why not I'm in there, right?) and a tranny rebuild with clutch at 210,000 miles.
I plan on squeezing every bit of life out of my tour, cause' I love driving the dang thing. So, does anyone have any good/bad and the ugly stories to share?
Jim

my early built 95 Mystique is around 188k, and running strong, I see signs of the wiring harness degrading but no signs of trouble, knock on wood ...

my 97 tour is running strong with 232k on it. nothing but basic maintenance done. havent even replaced the clutch yet.

awesome! 232,000! can anybody else beat it? I mean, I've only got it by a few thousand more. Does anybody know who holds the record for mileage driven with a vehicle regardless of make or model? I know of an oldsmobile from i believe the 70's that last had close to a million, and a Saab that broke a million miles.

true, but it figures that they are usually foriegn cars. The best mileage i have gotten out of one of my cars was my 1985 Pontiac Grand Am, 363,000miles, then I sold it. Then the neighbors that bought it drove it for a few more years. Jeez, that was a four-banger too!! Good ol' tech four rapper motor! lol
Anywho, what about non diesels? hey, anybody notice the posting time? it's 8:40PM here, says I am posting at 1:36 AM??????

My Ranger has 362.5K miles on it. Though it isn't my daily driver anymore, it still goes out on local errands and still runs very strong.

the svt has about 105k on it right now. The exploder (1992) has 157k on it. I'm shooting for 200k, that means i'll have gotten 100k miles on a car i paid less than a thousand bucks for. sweet.

well folks, we're seeing some good miles driven here, by the way was that Ranger with 362k a four or a six cyl????. However, what about just the contiques????????? Dosen't Lance have one of the originals too? he must be up there in miles by now.

I have just a hair over 308k on my contour. Its a zetec atx. Transmissions been replaced couple times but other than that nothing major has happened. Its my daily driver back and forth to school and work.

WOW and I thought I had alot of miles on my 99 4 cylinder atx with 86,456 miles. I hope to reach the 200K mark as well. I stay on top of all the maintenance and treat her well.

2.9L six. 140hp but feels like more than that but it's probably just the way the 5 speed manual is geared.

You're in Northeast CT?
Have you ever been to a New England meet?
