Now that the NFL schedule is released, we're looking into where to go this year. We wanted to stay in the northeast to save a bit on flights and such.
We're looking into the Sept 22/23 weekend to see the Nats and Redskins play.
Hopefully we can get decent prices on tickets, especially since it's the last weekend for the Nats at RFK.

I was trying to figure out where to look for hotels.
I was thinking maybe in Rockville or Laurel to be slightly outside of DC, but also closer to the airport (we'd be flying into Baltimore).

Any advice or input you'd like to toss our way would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

  1. Which air port will you arrive at? BWI? DCA?
  2. Will you rent a car or not?
I can give you some recommendation if you are flying in BWI and rent a car.

I live in Laurel. Its pretty nice not too much traffic and your 1/2 way between DC and Bmore. To get to either ~30 minutes depending on traffic.

Check this Comfort Suite. It's close to BWI and the facility is really good that my coworker cannot stop praising this place.

Create an account on line. Book the dates you want. Then go to www.expedia.com or www.cheaprooms.com search for the same hotel. These sites will have a price much much lower. Within 24 hours, go to this for the best price garantee and they not only price match, but give you 10% off the lowest price (not 10% of difference).

For example, their price: $105 per night.
You search on line and found the same dates for $40 per night (because it's still several months away so the price could be really low)
Send the URL to them with in 24 hours of booking. They verify it, and honor the price match for $36 per night. The best thing is, not like the fare search engine sites, you can still cancel the reservation 24 hours before and would not charge you until you really check in. The search sites usually are not refundable and charge your credit card right away.

We originally wanted to do Baltimore this year, but the baseball and football schedules don't have home games in the same weekend. darnit!

Thanks for the hotel advice! awesome.

Flight has been booked (man I love those Southwest deals), and also football/baseball tickets have been booked.
I just gotta work on that hotel smoothness, and also get a rental car.

We fly in Sept 21st at night. The baseball game isn't until 7 on Saturday, so we'll probably sleep in a bit, do breakfast and then head out for some touristy crap. Then maybe get a drink or something after the baseball game if it's not too late.
The football game is at 4:00 on Sunday, so another good day to sleep in. I doubt we'll do too much before the game. We'll most likely go early and do some tailgating.
Our flight leaves at 7ish on Monday, so we'll also most likely do some touristy junk before we leave too.

If anyone wants to hook up for a drink, lunch or something, let me know and we'll see what we can do. :)

Bowie and Crofton are nice as well. If you want real nice try Annapolis Habor or Columbia.

Let me know which one you pick and I can at least tell you about the area.

Remind me as the date gets closer and I'll talk to Mike and others and see if we can't get a small group together for food/drinks. :)

It's about time.
When was the last time we met as a group? Too long to remember...
And that's when DanG still had his turbo cat.

I just booked with the Comfort Suites in Laurel. I'll see if they do the pricematch guarantee.
I just submitted the claim form.
I'll probably only save like $10 per night, but that's ok.
Thanks again for the info on that program.

now to book the rental car...

Thats like 4 miles from where i live.

definitely!
One of the things we love doing when we go on these trips every year is to get together with the local CEGers for food/drinks.

I just got the Redskins game tickets in the mail last night, so now we have all our game tickets in hand.
Can't wait!
