Hey. I searched around and I found some old threads but all the mounts from ford seem to be DISCOED. Where do I get the new mounts and what are they all called? I saw a motor mount and trans mount on rock auto, but what about the so called roll restrictor and apparently there is another type of mount also?

If I can't get replacements do they make any aftermarket replacement inserts? Somethin I can push out and push in or something like that? Thanks.

PS: Have any pics of where the other mounts are and if you have the new replacement inserts pics also please and how hard are they to install?

See this thread for the passenger's side mount:

http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?56987-Passenger-Side-Motor-Mount&highlight=right+mount

Inserts are definitely available through Rock Auto. Search their online catalog in the "Engines" subsection (should be ~ $10).

The rear roll resistor is also available through Rock Auto but they are down to "1 left in stock". Search their online catalog in the "Manual Transmission" subsection (should be ~ $70).

If the last rear roll resistor gets snagged before you, you can do a polyurethane upgrade either by yourself or maybe contact Pole120 - he did do them in the past but I don't know about right now. There is a Group Buy going on right now to do 80A hardness polyurethane upgrade on both roll resistors.

BAT should carry the driver's side transaxle mount (might come unpainted?).

I had my front and rear roll resistors done by pole120. Excellent stuff. They broke in so nicely. The engine stays put so much better. It even straightened out the shift feel.

for the roll resistors do you need to send them to him? I can't be without a car which sucks so I would need the mounts to replace right away.

the autopartsgogo site is awesome with the side mount for 125 bucks. I'm for sure getting that. and my last name is gogolak so I gotta represent haha. But when you look at the pic it doesn't seem like what it should be though eh? I thought for the SVT's there was a bracket that goes through the center with 2 bolts on either side of the mount? I thought I bookmarked the one thread I saw with a bunch of pics but I didn't. Is this just a different pic maybe?

There are no more rear roll resistors on rock auto. delayed 2 days so I could still get it might just be a while though.

Where would I get the front trans mount then?

Also how hard is it to install all these mounts?

I'm sure the trans mount and roll restrictor will be easy, but how about the front engine mount insert on rock auto? Do I need just one of those? How would I even install it? Thanks.

last I heard, you couldn't get the "front mount" (you're talking about the one on the passenger fender?).

If you do find one, at a junkyard or otherwise, It's pretty easy to pull: I usually pull it when I pull my serpentine belt, just to make it easier.

Move the coolant overflow, 4 bolts up high, one in the middle, three down low = done.

I just support the engine with a block and a jack.

Service manual tells you to use an engine brace, but I'm too poor to buy that.

Cheers :blackeye:

holy crap. Then how many mounts are on this car? A focus has three. A pass mount a drivers side mount and a rear trans.

so far I hear on here it has a front and rear roll restictor (which I've seen obviously) the front passenger and drivers side eh? That sucks you can't get the passenger side new then. I might just have to replace both the lowers and call it a day eh?

Can't you read? My previous post (#3) gave you a combination of direct links and references on where to get all four new mounts. You just can't get new OEM mounts anymore (unless the BAT driver's side mount is an OEM unit sourced from Ford - Europe).

I missed the last one sorry. The link you sent for the passenger side though, the pic looks different then others I have seen. The other ones I've seen have a bracket in the middle with 2 holes on either side of the bushing. Is it the same thing just a generic picture then or was I looking at a mount for the four cylinder?

I'm most definitely a picture person. The inserts I see on Rock Auto I'm not even sure which mount those would go in? I guess I never paid enough attention to see a mount like that. \\

With bat inc I can see they have the lower mounts AND the lower mount inserts. But that's the other thing I don't get. Are those inserts the same for both mounts? Do they go over the existing rubber? If so I don't see how. Mine didn't look like the 4 square type deal they have there. It looks like the one on rock auto with the holes through the solid rubber.

I now wish I saved that damn thread to show yah what I mean.

I'm paying it forward into my "please take a picture for me" account. :help:

Here ya go:

I have my intakes off right now, so it won't look exactly like this. That's my fuel injector harness covering the top of the "power train mount bracket", you'll see it clear as day when you look at your car: the sparkplug wire loom fits on top of it. This is the "powertrain mount" located on the inside passenger fender.

This is the "Left-hand Transaxle Support Insulator" (or "trans mount"), located on top of your transaxle, underneath the air intake inlet. [Note how mine is skewed, I'm needing a drivetrain alignment. I believe that rubber bushing/insert should be straight.]
IMG_0907.jpg

This is the "rear roll restrictor", located on the side of the transaxle closest to the rear of the car; looking at it with your head under the transaxle, and your legs under the front bumper.

Side view of the "rear roll restrictor". [Note, mine is cracked/sagging and in need of replacement.]

This is the "front roll restrictor", opposite the rear roll restrictor (kinda underneath the battery box). [Note, mine is broken and in need of replacement.] This view is from below the battery box, right next to the side of the transaxle facing the front of the car. Note, your head will not fit where I put the camera! You can also see my "stab-o-shock" in this picture. it's in the foreground of the picture, right below one of my "scrubbing carbon off the intakes" grubby fingers.

There she be.

Cheers :blackeye:

p.s. Get a Ford service manual. PLEASE do yourself that giant favor. Best $10 you'll ever spend. :troutslap::troutslap:

Thanks! Wow those are about how my lower mounts look. I will have to check the uppers now that I know where they are at but I'm sure they will also need to be replaced if my lowers look just like yours. Thanks a lot! And the drivers side transaxle mount was the one I saw the pictures of that I thought was actually the passenger but it is not. I completely missed that since it wasn't on the same page as the other mounts. Thanks now I know what to get!

And I think I will go get one. Where did you get yours? ebay or at a store?

Oh my bad, I thought you were asked where YOU could get one.

I got mine off of ebay. I got the "2000 model year car" manual, there's alot of info I don't need on that one, and some areas could be more specific.

I plan to get the "2000 ford contour" manual, hoping it will have more easily accessible information.

Sorry 'bout that.

yah I did think about the CD but it wouldn't have pics that I could see in front of me when I'm working since I don't have a laptop to bring with me when I'm working on it.

I think if I get the mounts and stuff from BAT I'll just get the tour manual they have since it's specific and then won't have to pay separate shipping. Thanks.
