This is a real simple question...:help: what is the extent of the stock SVT alarm system...?:confused:

1) Will it go off if a window is broken?
2) Will it go off if the door is openend too many times w/o a key?

What is the extent of our alarm systems? I know that it will not go off if you lock it with the remote and try to open the door from the inside like other cars. I'm concerned whether our alarm systems do anything except beep when the alarm button is hit on the remote. Someone please explain. Thank in advance.

it's not an alarm. it's passive anti theft, meaning it won't start without the chip embedded in the key. it won't make any noise if someone breaks into your car.

If you have something more than the PATS system described above you have an aftermarket alarm. There is no factory installed alarm. There was a Ford branded accessory alarm that was sometimes dealer installed. It isn't anything special and is just as prone to problems as most any other aftermarket alarm.

So, no, the "factory" alarm will not do either of the things you are asking about as there is no "factory" alarm.

If you do have an aftermarket alarm, find the control module under the dash. It is usually above the driver's feet. Find the name and any other identifiers on it and do a google search to see what you can learn about it.

I think you're just asking about the stock keyless entry system, right? Unfortunately that's all it is ... keyless entry, no alarm, and an oddly functional Panic button that gives the aura of an alarm.

PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) is a separate beast altogether and has nothing to do with the keyless entry. PATS is included on every V6 Contour, including every CSVT.

Oh .. you're right, I had forgotten about that. It was a part of the V6 package on 98+ Contours according to the FAQ.

Bringing back from the dead, sorry guys.

The 2k svt I just bought has an alarm. Works with the stock key fob that everyone else has and activates/de-activates with the lock/unlock functions. There is a sensitivity knob and impact sensors. It is also wired in as an ignition signal lock. You have to hit unlock on the fob before starting the car.

It has all Ford brand paperwork and a Ford booklet for the alarm..... Is that wierd, or no? Does anyone know someone else that has this system on a svt?

yes its s System 3/4 Ford add on alarm for vehicles with and without keyless entry.

I have it on both my cars. the indicator led is teh valet switch and there is an override switch so the car can be started. out of the box it will arm the starter lockout after a minute. hense why you have to hit unlock on the remote first to start the car. I believe you can change this setting. you can also set it to arm automattically.

I got both off ebay and had them installed.

I had LoJack installed at the dealer and obviously has PATS. But nothing like you described. Maybe a Ford part but not specifically for the SVT.

That sounds awesome! I never had an alarm before so I am learning about it as I go. So my book should have all that info too I suppose...... Do you know what the price of this dealer/ford installed option was?

If you ever see these again, could you PM me? I just searched and didn't see anything.
