does the waterpump have a different belt than the other accessories?

this is a 1998 contour SVT, just got my car inspected for the yearly inspection and they told me the belt was shredded, and that it was just the waterpump belt that runs off the cam, ill replace it myself, but when i looked up the belts at napaonline it only showed a serpentine belt, is there only one belt on the contour svt? or a seperate one for just the waterpump.

Yes the v6 has a seperate water pump belt. Just look at some build threads and look at the right hand side of the front valve cover. (standing in front of car facing engine) It is under the black plastic cover that covers the front valve cover and wraps around the head before stopping at the throttle body.

I replaced the waterpump belt myself yesterday. Was 20 bucks from Ford, in Canada
The tensioner "locks up" after tightening the mounting bolt. Is this normal? It will only spring and release with the mounting bolt loosened.
Doesn't seem right to me.

the tensioner should move freely, as I recall, when bolted down.

you can always get the shorter belt and bypass the tensioner also.
