What's your oil pressure at idle?

I'm looking into getting a EPC upgrade kit for my Accusump, which just installs a oil pressure switch in series with the 12V supply for the valve. However they have three ranges to choose from. I think the lowest one isn't low enough. However before I judge I guess I'm looking to see what everyone is seeing.

So that said what is your oil pressure at idle?

Maybe some people don't know, but you need the reading from the port above the AC compressor location not off the heads.

Why would that matter? Have you seen this different than the heads?

At idle they don't have much oil pressure, probably 10 - 12 lbs. on my car. They don't need much at idle.

Reading the oil pressure off the head provides a much lower reading then taking the pressure off the port above the A/C compressor or at a remote oil filter.

IIRC, and I have posted the numbers before ... off the head its like 10 psi at idle. But from the remote oil filter its more like 20.

Oil pressure varies with rpm until about 3k rpm, then it should be ~65 psi above that.

Mine is below 20 psi (at my accumulator tapped of the port above the a/c compressor).

As Brian said, the head oil pressure readings are lower than in the block by the AC compressor. I have been told that the pressure readings at the heads are not the correct place to read pressure because the reading there is after the pressure at the crank where the pressure reading is vital.

Some old data (2008) I had taken with a mechanical gauge on a remote oil filter, the setup is still the same and the numbers remain remarkably similar over 5 years later.

Hot oil (225F) still runs ~20 psi at the filter. My remote oil filter bracket is now a straight-in unit from Maximum Motorsports, so the Mocal filter stand and all the wacky bracketry went away, but the plumbing is the same.

The lowest pressure kit that Canton has is p/n 24-271k, which is only set for 20-25psi. I'm concerned that the Accusump would be dumping every time the engine was at idle, which would put an additional 1-1/2 qts of oil into the engine. I may have to ask Canton if they have a 15-20psi pressure regulator that they could send me.

Canton replied back indicating I need to work with Suco-Tech to obtain a NC pressure switch that is adjustable. As it turns out they have one that is rated for 1.4-14.5±2.9 psi. So I'll probably be picking up that one and setting it to the max, which should do the trick.
