They did not.
E0 came with Goodyear Eagle GSC and E1 came with Goodyear Eagle F1, both in the same size, 205/55/ZR16. I remember them and I have the 98 E1 spec sheet.
Jim, My 1998 SVT E0 (purchased in January 1998) did indeed come with 205/55ZR16 Goodyear Eagle GSC tires, but my friends 1998.5 SVT E1 (purchased in December 1998) came with 215/50ZR16 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires just as Stazi said. I also have the specifications (in hand) and you are correct they read "Goodyear Eagle F1, 205/55ZR-16" just as you say, but my friends car came (from the factory) with the larger BFGs. I would have to say that Ford's specification were definitely "subject to change without notice".

I can most certainly tell you that my 2000 SVT came with 215/50R16 KDW's.

I can only say that I saw a lot of 98 E1's with F1 tires and I lot of 99's with KDW's. I never saw an E1 with KDW's. It is not impossible, but it would have been unusual.

All 1999's (debuting in August 98+) came with BFG KDW's in the size already listed. There could have been some overlapp on the E1's where they started using the BFG's but I'd guess it would be small. The 98's mostly used Eagle GSC's IIRC.

I think the problem is with the mis-usage of 'E1'. Most people don't seem to realize that the only 'true' E1s are the 98.5 cars. CEG typically likes to say E1 in reference to ALL CSVTs with the Cobra-R like rims, which is wrong. The E0 and E1 term is for 98 year cars ONLY! There is no such thing as a 99 or 00 E1 car!
