Now just to establish an equilibrium, I'd like to know who has SVT's that have NOT had catastrophic failures!
98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....

The right question would be: who has a problem-free STOCK CSVT. Most complaints come from owners who did home-made modifications to their cars without any knowledge of the mechanical implications ... Furthermore, ANY car constantly brought to the RPM redline would experience mechanical failures.
CSVT are (were) designed for fun driving not for racing !

Currently at 73k miles, but just stopped commuting due to a job change, so miles won't pile up any more. Looking to sell her soon actually. All maintenance issues so far, no failures of any kind except a roadside strand a ways back due to bad fuel line clips.

66K mi. No major problems ever except 2 sets of bad brake rotors within the first 20K and the fuel tank vent issue (fixed at 10K).
I'm driving around with a new water pump in the trunk waiting for the time to install it.
Now that I've posted this, I guess I just jinxed myself.

Originally posted by Captain Bart: Furthermore, ANY car constantly brought to the RPM redline would experience mechanical failures. Hmm.. I shift rather high on the tach, am I in for trouble? I don't see how, if ford set the factory rev limiter for a certain level, that going TO that level can be detrimental to the car. I understand that it will put MORE wear on your car, but to say that ANY car WILL experience mechanical FAILURE is a little harsh, don't ya think? Perhaps "Vehicles will be more prone to failure, sooner." or something? More info would be nice.. Thanks.. Ray
