Hello CEGers
My name is Damien, I'm in Minneapolis and I'm a Contour-holic. (already donated to the site fund). I got a '00 SVT on Thursday and promptly put 2500 miles on it. I picked it up outside of L.A. and drove it to Minneapolis. What fun--and only one ticket. During the trip I formulated some questions. I hope these haven't been all over the forums before. I tried searching, but wasn't able to come up with anything. 1. What do people think of the short shifters? B&M is the only one I've seen mentioned. Is that the only thing available? Where is a good place to get one? 2. I was suprised by how much road noise came in. Has anyone embarked on a project to reduce that? What has been successful. I was thinking of taking the rear seats/carpeting out and putting that "Brown Bread" stuff around. Any comments? Recommendations? Warnings? 3. I'm planning to get a DMD from Terry Haines. Any thing else I should do at the same time? 4. Any thoughts, help, advice or comments are welcome and appreciated.

1. Love mine (B&M) I think (not sure) that there might be one from the focus that might fit our cars (thought I saw somebody mention this one time) but my B&M has been fine so I am not worried about it.
2. yeah some people have you might want to look around in the audio forum and see what you can find there.
2000 Silver SE Sport V6 MTX, B&M shifter, SVT exhaust, 75K on the clock.

1. It's wonderful!
2. The stock KDW's are very noisy, but also excellent tires. It's a trade off.
3. A new crank seal & bolt (a must!)
4. Read the entire main site!!! Have a blast driving your SVT. Then repeat

My only suggestion: 4.) Listen to Demon, those are words to the wise.. Also... incase you hadn't noticed... check out your current waterpump situation.. most are prone to die ~60K miles... not good on the engine.. something about boiling hot tempss, and a blown engine, or something.. Ray

I have the same question as Duc1. Where do you get a B&M short shifter?
Is there a place on this site where it lists where parts are available, i.e. website, stores, etc...?

3. Replace your serpentine belt if it is due, since you will have to take it off anyway.
1996 Contour SE Sedan 4D (Royal Blue) Duratec V6 2.5L 24-valve DOHC Automatic 75,000 miles No Mods (unless you call the DMD a mod) Replaced EGR valve (gunked up), EVR (EGR VR), PCV valve, and evaporative emissions hose (cracked).
