Hey Eastern Canada CEGers
I'm new here, this is my first post. I was wondering what to do for a maintenance manual. Canadian Tire has a Haynes for about $20. Anybody have any experience with it? Or should I get something else? I'm an aircraft mechanic (A.M.E.), so I kinda know what I'm doing (I sure hope so). Don't know yet what maintenance I'll be performing on my '99 SVT, but I don't want to buy something that won't tell me what I need to know. I think the first mod/improvement/preventative medicine will be the metal water pump. And does anyone have any experience with the CD-ROMS someone is selling in the classifieds? Just a couple of inquiries that have been on my mind. It looks like this group will be a lot of help. I also belong to a Kawasaki ZRX Owner's Assn. website, and am AMAZED at the amount of information I see there everytime I visit it.
Thanks guys and girls,
Glen

Welcome to CEG. I would buy the manual. It's worth every penny although not specific to the SVT's it is still an excellent guide.

Actually Ford changed to a white plastic wp impeller for your year which does not seem to have anywhere near the failure rate as the original black plastic. Several posts about metal replacements having seal failures. Both mine replaced with metal last May due to impeller failure.
Here's a current wp thread:waterpump

and an old post on manuals:manual critique

To add to this thread, my 98.5 SVT had a white plastic impeller too. While the supercharger was going in, I asked the shop to change out the water pump, and that is when i fouhd out about the white plastic impellers in some 98 models too.
