Well I did it, err had it done. The sound is much cleaner and I have a lot more variability and control of the volume. It did seem to lessen my low bass output though.

It is possible that the amp had a built in bass boost, but you could never tell by listening to the stock system. Glad you are happy with the new wiring.

Thank for your review, Connie. More importantly, I'm glad you are pleased with the sound. What Dave mentioned would not surprise me. Can you compensate with the bass control on the new head unit?

Well, now that the system is working as it should, I'm considering upgrading the system even more...
Any suggestions on how to add some good bass without seriously overshadowing the speakers in there now (Boston FX8 5x7). Or would I have to replace those speakers as well with components...

Ahh, car/stereo modification is an endless cycle smile

I'd say keep your spekaers that you've already invested in (especially if you like how they sound for the frequencies they do play).

For adding bass, just pick a budget and some other requirements such as how much trunck spave you want to take up and the people here can help.
