ive been debating whether or not i am going down I70 or I80. swazo was debating whether or not he was coming, and if he does, im assuming he would come down I70, in which case I would meet him. if not, i may take a slightly longer route to I80 and meet up with all of you. i have around a 17 hour drive total, so breaking it up would be nice. i also want to caravan.

Sounds like a few of us Minnesotans are around and about...
Mike and I are two cars (zero Contours... but oh well) then the other two I'm seeing here... that's a pretty good nucleus for a caravan right there.
We could start from my place in Apple Valley or nearby (easy access to cty 46 and MN52). I have found it is quicker to drive 52 to Rochester and I-90 than to swing up north and take I-94.
No offense to Iowans... but I would rather meet up with them on the route than trek down there Wednesday night.

Hey Zoom Zoom.....who's Mike? Me? I'm confused.
Anyways, I'm Mike too and I'm in Eagan. If we have enough people we can just do a mini caravan from the TC area and then meet up with Davo/Rick(Buckshot77) and the rest of the guys somewhere along the way. It doesn't much matter to me whether we go down to IA or meet the guys from IA & NE in route.
How many guys are actually registered and paid from the TC area? If there is 5 or more lets do our own and then communicate with Rick (and company) on where we want to meet up with them. I know it's only Feb. but this is my first SZ and I want to do the whole kit n kaboodle....so if I have to drive to IA to hook up with 5-10 guys then so be it.
Let me know your thoughts.
Later. Mike

Which way would you TC guys be taking? I have been looking at the fastest routes from the twin cities area, rochester area (where I live), and Des Moines area and if we all don't want to meet in Minnesota or Iowa, it looks like the best place would be around the intersection of I-39 and I-80 in Illinois.
Lets get some more ideas here. I'm with slingersvt, this will be my first SZ and I too want to do everything I can to make it the best

Yeah, taking 39 to 80 would be the best option, because 90/94 through Chicago will take you forever, regardless of the time of day. That would be a decent place to meet.

MN Boyz...if we have a few more people, I agree that we should take 52 to 90 and then meet up with the rest where 39 and 80 intersect.....definately a good idea to try and bypass Chicago as much as possible.

There is a parking lot that is about 30 seconds from the HWY 63/I-90 intersection that would be an ideal place for us MN guys to meet up. Plus there are 3 gas stations less than a mile away.

Sorry... different Mike. He goes by zenboy and is another Contour alum (he drives an STi).
We're both registered, paid, and have a room reservation.

Slinger and all, in past years we've met up with the guys from Chi-town and TC area just past Chicago and then caravaned from there to SZ. With it being in Indiana this year and us staying on I-80 for so long I figure we can just meet at an exit just past Gary, IN and caravan from there. This does save you MN guys a fair amount of time.
Loco, you up for picking an exit on 80 for us to all meet at? I'll be in need of fuel with my gas hog so a gas station nearby would be preferable for me.
