I will be sending the block off to the machine shop soon for the boring, fitting of the pistons/rods and such. Since I have the revised windage tray, I had to order the 4 studs that changed with the revised design. My question is in regards to the other 18 bolts that hold the girdle to the block ... are they TTY, or can they be reused?

I have studs 9-10-11-12 in the diagram below:

I'm 90% sure they are TTY.

Everything is TTY except numbers 18-22

#1-16 are TTY. Everytime you see a torque spec that has you torque a bolt to a certain amount and then turn an additional amount, such as 90 degrees, then you have TTY bolt.

#17 uses the same bolt as 1-4 which are TTY.

So if 1-4 are TTY so then is 17. Now you can say it's never "stretched" as much as 1-4 but it's the exact same part so technically it's a TTY bolt.

Therefore 1-17 are TTY bolts/studs respectively and 18-22 are not. This is regardless of if 17 "needs" to be changed after one use. That wasn't the question.

Stretching a bolt is what keeps it torqued. Stretching beyond its elastic limit is what makes it stronger but also no reusable. If it is the same part number then it could be TTY but I'm guessing it would be totally safe to reuse it.
BUT...because I can't prove it and just to be courteous to you I'll tell him to replace it.

Warning to those that need to order these bolts/studs for a machine shop visit ... they are very costly for bolts/studs. I decided to replace ALL the bolts in the girdle (including non-TTY) to be on the safe side.Cost (25% off list price) & part numbers:

Studs/Bolts
Qty 4 YL8Z-6345-AA = $4.97 each (9-10-11-12 in diagram)
Qty 4 YL8Z-6345-BA = $5.87 each (5-6-7-8 in diagram)
Qty 4 F5RZ-6345-D = $3.57 each (13-14-15-16 in diagram)
Qty 5 F5RZ-6345-C = $2.57 each (1-2-3-4-17 in diagram)
Qty 5 W701544S309 = $1.68 each (18-19-20-21-22 in diagram) - sold in package of 6

Nuts (hold windage tray/oil pickup tube in place)
If you have an 01+ block already, these nuts can be reused!
Qty 4 W701542S309 = $5.05 each - (sold in packs of 6)
Qty 4 W701582S309 = $1.13 each

Using PRE 01+ block with revised Windage Tray & Oil Pickup Tube:

Total = $115.39 ... you will have 1 bolt and 2 nuts left over due to the "package" quantity being more than you need.

Using 01+ block (comes with revised windage tray & oil pickup & thusly the bolts to hold them in place to the studs)

Total = $80.57

Man, that sucks. That's the reason I didn't mess with the main bearings on my engines!

$1,000 for Rods
$715 for Pistons
$5,500 for Turbo Kit

what's another $115

Yet another reason to buy an 01+ block ... right Greg ... *nudges DemonSVT*
