If you want to keep traction, run a tire with some sort of a sidewall. It allows the tire to give a bit and more power to be put down. Look at the guys at the strip, they pull the rubberbands off of thier car and run 14" and 15" tires because they have a sidewall that can wrinkle up and give a little when the power comes on. Of course some slicks would be optimal.

a 235/45/17 IS a pretty good size sidewall.

Yeah, I need to get some drag radials or slicks, but not for the street. I couldn't be rolling on some 14" steelies unless I primer the car black. ( )
Now the idea would be appealing but....
I think I'd see myself as looking cooler when I mash the thottle at 65 mph and burn rubber...don't you?

I think we would all like to see that! That would make some great video footage.

You must not race much

Burning rubber is not fun when the srt-4 on street tires pulls a car length on you from the start. Right ryan?

My kumhos were bald, but they still couldnt make up for that margin.

As they say around here...Ain't NO SRT-4 that I've run up against ever pulled on me. (knocks on wood) So far that is.

I posted my torque curve from my dyno on the SRT-4 website when it was the 'in thang' to be driving one. A few compliments and NO one else posted, none of the naysayers, etc. Nice little car but I hate the attitudes of most of the drivers and therefore I like to administer beat downs whenever I can
