Ummmm I'm new to this forum, been devouring it for the past couple of weeks and finally registered. anyway. I just purchased a 98 mystique LS, 3500, great deal. anyway I have already put a knn intake and ripped everything after the cat off and put on brand new 2 1/2 inch pipe with a cherry bomb glass pack in the middle, chrome tip, nothing special, sounds wicked though. I have the mtx and with it being winter the thing is squirly as hell. as far as mods go I don't really want to get into re porcherizing the engine yet so I'm wondering what you guys would suggest, I want about 200-210 to the ground, I'm guessing about 170-180 now so what would work????

3L or supercharger/turbo, the 3L being cheaper.

msds headers, and replace the cherry bomb muffler with a quality muffler like a mangaflow.
Btw, your probably making 170-180 crank. (~145 whp) Even near stock svt's dont make 170 whp. Well perhaps on a rare occassion.
Your only option to putting 200 hp to the ground is really nitrous or a 3.0L swap. Even putting 200 whp to the ground on a svt 2.5L would probably run you more than a 3.0L swap.

If you're on a $500 budget, your only option is nitrous. Pickup a ZEX kit and spray a 50 shot. It'll more than likely give you 50HP to the wheels, as these cars react awesome to the bottle. Be prepared to start breaking transmission(ie: diff, syncros, clutch) items with that power. I put down 206 to the wheels with my 3L and full bolt-ons and tune, but my tranny isn't stock. Believe me, $500 is NOT going to get you there without the bottle.

Why not start with a good set of winter tires so you can better enjoy what you have before the weather gets better?

Oh but the bomb sounds sooooo good. does the mtx really sap 35 hp, seems like a lot. that and when I raced my friend who has a 05 civic si thats putting a proven 167 to the ground and weighs 2600 lbs and has an lsd, never got behind his door (I let off the gas at 95, it was icy) so I have to be putting more than 145 to the ground.
ok, no 3L swap, if i'm going to spend 1500-2000 dollars I'm going to do a slight bore and make it into a rev monster, it was designed by porsche and it still has the soul.
